Several... DA lore based stories which took place after DA:O events were released this year. (Asunder and Silent Grove)
They future several "mortal" characters from previous DA installments.

I read Silent Grove and must say that it can still be handled "ME: Arrival style" aka "someone else did that".
But I can't say the same about Asunder.

My question is: Any word from developers about forced/needed canon?

It's been addressed a few times. Basically those events did happen (no matter what), but that doesn't necessarily mean they went down the same way depending on your own choices.

Essentially, treat "canon" material such as the novels and comics as being based around choices that BioWare made in their playthroughs, so to speak.

Hm... So only events themselves are canon. Good to know and Thank you for quick answer.

I just hope that all those "decision tree" won't transform in "decision jungle" and development team after realizing in horror that they most likely won't see their friends/families until DA3 release won't start chaotically swinging "canon machete". 

To DA3 developers team:

Keep up the good work and stay hydrated! <3 (It's the first time that I've used that sign...ever...and hopefully the last)
