this isn't going contrary to plot

Actually, it is: the plot is that the Crucible either destroys the Reapers, controls them, or synthesizes organic life with synthetic life. All these three endings are alluded to one way or another, and each have their own significance with regards to the entire trilogy storyline whether you choose to ignore this fact or not. The ending proposed here is nothing short of contrived, uninspiring garbage.

Give it a ****ing rest. The story is not going to change. What happens after the ending of ME3 is left to your speculation, not what is actually presented to you in the game.

If you don't like the thread, you give it a rest and just don't open the link....

Like your "why refuse isn't a good option" or whatever it's called. I haven't even opened up the page, because I know it will be full of opinionated bull****.

Plus, that bolded part, you're joking right?

For the whole game the crucible was meant to defeat the Reapers. Not the Reaper threat or invasion. The physical BEINGS themselves!

Synthesis is also more contrived then any piece of fanfic writing i have seen since the ME3 release. There have been WAY too many analysis' and studies from literary and thematic standpoints to real life biochemistry and physics standpoints.

It just stupid and contrived. Had the writers had more time to flesh out an ending that made sense. They would have seen this themselves.

Synthesis is the anti-thesis to the Mass Effect series.

^This. And the point of the Mass Effect trilogy we played  was NOT designed all through it to get us to solve the Reapers/Star Brats problems, OR to anticipate what may or may not happen several hundreds of years in the future. It was simply to end, NOW, the threat of the Reapers, in this cycle, in this time!

No one can anticipate everything, and to be totally honest, the very fact this damned piece of intleigent software called Star Brat has been working for so long makes me wonder how in hell it IS still working in any form at all!  And how it is sane, if it even is.

There is always degradation. I don't care what anyone says, nothing can be built to last as long as it has. Storage for the program that is it alone wouldn't last - everything we know of that stores data of any kind degrades. Look at Vigil, nhe kept dropping in and out, futzing and he was only 50k or so years old. If Star Brat had shown that the program was old, degrading in parts, it might, just might have been more believable,. But no, it has to be more pristine than the VI of Shep in the Citadel!

Unless, of course, there are willing hands to manufacture then make back up storage every now and then,(keepers)  but my argument still holds - data loss will inevitably happen, even in transfers of data. And that alone makes anything the Star Brat says totaly suspect to me, and fits in the Space Magic category!

So I don't care about a long term solution to the Organinc and Synthetic problem, because in my Shep's world, WE work together, WE don't have one!  Synthesis in our world has proved again and again to warp people and indoctrinate them like TIM, Saren. Nope, not a soluition, it is an abomination of both distict life forms that deserve to evolve seperately in my opinion.

So all I want to do, is what I set out to do, what I was ordered to do, Kill, The. Reapers!

@ CE: I agree. We don't need to know the reapers motivations. They are killing us. We are trying to survive. The latter is our motivation. The survival of our species is enough of a motivation for me. We know that they can be destroyed.

What pissed me off was:

* the retcon of the council in ME2 to be dumbasses.
* the retcon of Councilor Anderson to not trust Shepard.
* the way all the information about Sovereign suddenly turned into Geth when they had Geth tech all over the place to compare it to -- meaning their scientists are dumbasses too.
* and in ME3 the turning of Shepard into a putz.

What is really sad is that everyone posting in this thread could come up with a better ending than Walters & Hudson. Granted some of them would be pretty cheesy (like yours truly), but they would be better. Hey, it's a game and the idea is fun, right?

I was expecting something on that, probably that those involved with studying the remains of Sovereign were indoctrinated on some level, which kept the truth concealed.

So what you are saying OP is actually have an ending that makes  sense and is rewarding?............ Nope  sorry it needs more  art, work with me here what if it weakens the organics and the reapers join with us to save us as told by a virtual representation of mickey mouse. that would  work and is VERY Bioware  like.

Great  idea OP maybe  Bioware should hire  you to fix Mass effect 3 and make sure they don't destroy other games with the stupid artistic space magic  bs they seem to love now.

Of course, why wouldn't they ignore all the data on reaper indoctrination gathered and fail to quarantine parts containing an organic-synthetic matrix, especially if that matrix was found to be emitting electromagnetic and ultrasonic frequencies that were detected on instruments they were scanning the parts with. JHFC were they that ****ing stupid when going over the wreckage? This is an alien spacecraft. They're going to check it for radiation of any sort just to make sure it's safe and quaratine parts that were emitting any sort of radiation or sound, and routinely checking workers.

Yet because information about reaper indoctrination is in the codex, one can assume this is common knowledge accessible to anyone in the galaxy.

Oh I forgot Shepard is a ****ing moron. Shepard didn't download ANY of the data that Rana Thanoptis got on the indoctrination of those Salarians that Saren had been studying. That research data was gotten by "evil" means, meaning the scientific data itself is evil.
