I have a serious problem with DAO. I'm currently at the Korcari Wilds and until now the game worked perfectly but now it crashes, not only the game but the screen turns black, pc becomes unresponsive and win7 have to be restarted. When restarted same thing happens every 5 minutes or even after 30 seconds. I've tried several drivers and its the same thing.
These are my system spec:
Windows7 x64 build 7100
Cooler Master ExtremePower 650W plus
AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor
4GB DDR2 800Mhz CL4 Kingston HyperX
ATI Radeon HD 3870
Catalyst 09.12 - 8.681-091124a-092499C-ATI (11-24-2009)
DAO crashes whole system

Have you installed ANY other software between game-working and game-not-working?
I had a similar issue where my game was working fine, then the next day it was crashing the computer to a hard reset.
The only change to the computer in between was I installed CleanMem utility and Rivatuner.
I uninstalled those two programs and my game resumed working fine again.
So the question is, what changed in your computer?
I see your running the new Catalyst 9.12, was your game working with 9.11?

I've updated to a new catalyst drivers because of crashing. No programs were installed in between. I've reinstalled the game but the problem remained. I'll try to uninstal latest patch and install previous one (1.01) and see if it changes anything.

No, that doesn't work either.

Name your power supply brand name, model, and amperage on the 12 V circuit. The HD 3870 draws a lot of current, and not all power supplies can handle that current draw.

Well, then it might be that new Catalyst driver which is causing issues. Can you rollback to the earlier version and try again?
Currently I'm using the 9.8 since I've seen too many issues with newer versions and I run almost crashless. Then again, I might be lucky (with different hardware).

I don't think that it's hardware problem because I've tested it all night for stability and it passed ok.
I've named my power supply earlier and its Cooler Master ExtremePower 650W plus. It is quite capable of running my system whatever I throw at it.

I think that it's definitely video driver together with the game to blame. I'll try 9.8 catalyst and if that doesn't work I'll install dual boot with winXP and try that. I can't roll back because I eradicate any remains of previous drivers when I'm installing new ones.

It's definitely because of the game. I've tried everything, from different drivers, settings, fullscreen and windowed mode, and finally installing WinXP sp3. The game simply behavied the same. My cpu and gpu didn't overheated, in fact gpu on some setting didn't reach 100% use but still the whole system crashed.

For some unknown reason the game started to work normal. I made no changes to anything and in one last desperate attempt to play the game, it went on as if nothing had happened.

Here is the only way the game works on my computer:
windowed mode 1600*900
network adapter and avast disabled
It works both on win7 x64 and xp sp3 x32 only under those conditions.
Hope this will help someone who has similar problems.
