Hey Folks.

I thought I'd start a thread about the upcomming Borderlands 2 game due to be released one month from today.  I know there are a few threads already about this game, but no Appreciation Thread.  So, lets discuss your hopes  and weapon preferences and Hey, how about that Wimoweh Trailer...probably the best trailer I've seen in a long time.  Anything you want to discuss is cool.

One thing though, if you don't like the franchise, keep your comments civil.  There is enough hating in BSN already,  Go commiserate in the ME forums please.

I'll start with the fact that Borderlands 2 promises to be a campaign of about 60 hours.  This is great.  I think my ME days are done for the time being.  I want to concentrate on this game when it comes out and 60 hours wil be perfect for getting ME outta my head.

So, Anyways, there you go...add what ever you want.  WUB WUB!!

I have my hopes up. I love Borderlands. It took me completely by surprise and I was talked into buying it, not knowing or caring what it was.

The new campaign sounds good, but I also hope Borderlands 2 keeps the new game mechanics. High powered playthrough 2.5, yes please! Obviously I hope the new special attacks can be used frequently enough and are fun. Well, they don't have to be quite as powerful as Phasewalk could become.

But no more collecting oil cans and pizzas though. Please :)

%100.  I love the AX10 Detonating Law revolver.  My last playtrhrough, I picked that up early in the game and used it constantly.  One well aimed shot is all it takes.

As for Lilith, I agree. I have played all classes and prefer the Siren the most.  With a well developed skill tree, she is almost invincible.  I'm looking forward to trying the new siren.  Phaselock looks impressive.

Mordecai, the Hunter is a close second fave class for me.

Still play BL1 even to this day; it's a classic.

And I pray BL2 is all that, so far it looks pretty awsome.

Pretty much the only good class is the Siren in BL1 imo. Phase walk is godly compared to all the other classes abilities. Short CD and if specced right it will also full heal you which is just to good to pass up. So hopefulley this time around all the abilities are decent plus well rounded so we will see a diverse population of chars instead of everyone playin one class. Judging by all the vids I have seen, looks very promising. But I do expect a lot of zer0s lol. ;)

One thing I do wish is that they went D3/GW2 loot style where everyone gets personalized loot. Biggest problem I find in BL1 is that if you PuG: you will never ever get loot unless you ninja grab like everyone else. I personally like to share but 99.9999% players out there will not. Unless you have mechanics like D3/GW2 or even have a need vs greed window like MMOs; it's gonna be super frustrating to play with others when it concerns with getting upgrades. They more or less removed class specific weapon proficiencies (ie. lilith and SMGs) so it's gonna be a nightmare since all classes can use every gun more or less to good effect. Hum. Suppose only way is to find trust worthy friends to play with but those are hard to find these days. We shall see...

Anyways, yea. I pre-ordered this bad boy ftw. I am going to have serious problems tryin to decide which to play more GW2 or BL2. I predict many sleepless days ahead....sigh.

Though Phasewalk quite clearly is overpowered, that doesn't mean the other classes are bad.

The only class I didn't really care about was Mordecai, and I guess that's just because I didn't really try much.

Isn't the game open world? Not like the first game where each section has it's own loading screen?

It's my understanding that BL2 will be open world.  But by what definition you use is debatable.  The first game was considered open world too but as you point out the the loading screen thing may not make it so in some people's opinion.

I can understand that but once I got his Bloodwing abilities enhanced on the skill tree, he really became fun to play. In a crowd of enemies it was nice to be able to concentrate on tougher adversaries while the Bloodwing took care of the lesser foes.

Yep. I never got that far with him.

Anyway BL1 was open world much like the GTA series. You can go anywhere... once you unlock it. Of course the game world isn't one big area, but I don't think that matters much. It worked, and it worked well.

Yeah I agree with this, really for all 4 of the characters they were best if you specced heavily into their special ability.

Agreed. The problem with any Co-op/MP mode is the greedy types who feel they need to have everything for themselves.  This is one of the reasons I prefer SP.  However, I played BL1 co-op off line with a few people at home so it worked out well for me.  Nobody got greedy and we all shared .

I won't be playing GW2 so my BL2 will be my main focus come September.  A 60 hour campaign (and that' just in SP, so I have read) will indeed lead to a few groggy mornings.  I pre-ordered too.  I splurged and got the Ultimate Loot Edition.  Lotsa goodies plus the regular preorder bonus and I understand that EB Games is including a sort of "Challenges Mode" as their own pre-order bonus. It's called the Slaughter Dome.  I guess it will be much like Moxi's Underdome DLC for BL1.

So it looks like there isn’t much love for the Borderlands franchise amongst Bioware fans, given the amount of traffic this thread is getting. (or lack thereof)

Never the less, I‘ll add a few tidbits to keep this thread alive.

For those that might be interested, Borderlands 2 went gold this past Friday (August 17th)

Gearbox has apparently honoured a big fan that died of cancer by using his name for an NPC and Claptrap will give a eulogy in game for the fan. This is a very classy act on Gearbox’s part. A very nice way to recognize the worth of the fan base.

Speaking of NPC’s, I understand that their will much more interaction with the NPC’s. I like the sound of this. There will be one NPC in particular who looks interesting. Her name is Tiny Tina, a thirteen year old psychopathic demolitions expert who likes tea parties- Creepy but very humorous. I’m looking forward to see how that is played out.

Anyways, less than a month to go and to be honest, I’m not even thinking of Mass Effect these days.

At least some of us appreciate the awesome games.

This is the biggest title of the year for me. Could still disappoint though; all games can.

I'm hype for this game. I've got a couple of days off from work booked so I get a long weekend to play

The new loot trading sounds nice instead of having to stand around throwing guns at each other and it looks like you also get the option to duel other players for loot.

I didn't even know this thread was out here. I think you might get a little more readership with a shorter, more concise title, and some images in your original post...and maybe some links. I'd recommend adding the video preview.

Personally, I'm excited to see what the new Mechromancer (60-90 day DLC) is all about. Her name is Gaige, and she comes with her own mech named Deathtrap.

The pictures aren't working. I am only getting more excited about the game. I thought this thread was supposed to calm me down!

I do feel a bit insulted by the bit about the short attention sp... Oooh, cold drink!

I'm definitely looking forward to BL2. I bought the GOTY edition of the first game for just 20 bucks after hearing good things about it, and let me tell you, that may have been some of the best 20 bucks I've ever spent. As a big fan of both FPS games and Diablo II, it was like a match made in Heaven for me. Definitely pre-ordering from Gamestop for the premiere pack and Slaughter Dome bonuses.

Also, Gearbox has said BL2 will have a much-improved story after the paper-thin story of the first game. It'll be hilarious if BL2 has a better ending than ME3!

Borderlands was never about the story. Not for me anyway. But if it gets better, that is of course a plus.

I am joy puking my face off over the old Borderlands this weekend. My siren is melting faces. Literally. Just heard a brute yell "ah my face!". My favorite is still Lilith. But Brick is a close second. I just think his special has too little synergy with a guns build. Of course, that is not at all true in the sequel with the gunzerker.

Make sure you keep your saves. Apparently once you load BL2, it recognizes you save and gives you a free Appearance and Weapons Skin Package.

And @ happy_daiz: thanks for the visuals. And I did provide links to a bunch of trailers. Also, thanks for the title suggestion but I kinda like it the way it is.
