Something to do with the way retailers do things internationally. Also for multiplayer games I would imagine some devs wouldn't want too many people on at once.

I don't think it's the latter, but am betting you are right about the retailers. They set a specific day of the week and they don't want to change that.

We don't have midnight releases here either so there's no good excuse to stay up late. They only do that for the CoD's and the WoW's.

ANYWAY, I am still loving how hard it is to choose in the new skill trees.

Easy to choose => a few cookiee cutter builds that are head and shoulders above the competition
Hard to choose => varied builds with different strengths/weaknesses, encouring switching around and thus having more fun

So... Yeah, not even going to ask which class you're going to play.

Any news on how easy it is to cheat in BL2? I'm wondering if I will actually dare play with random people this time around. Probably not, but one can always hope.

My XBL avatar is female (as am I), so...well, that kind of made sense in my head.

Just finished playing a bit. Lag is destroying my fun. I've never had lag issues like this, ever.

Half the time I can't loot anything because nothing shows up, my bullets rarely cause damage, ammo/weapon/health shops don't even appear, (I can press x to shop when I'm standing next to where it's supposed to be, but the shop is empty), and once I was completely stuck, I kept explaining over the headset to my brother that there was no way forward..he kept telling me there was a huge hole in a wall directly in front of me. Nope. No hole. All I saw was a solid wall...and then my brother walked through it.

First hour or so had no problems whatsoever. And then everything went nuts.

So anyone else here not using weapons matched with the class? I'm using the Assassin and I find while running the bloodbath tree that the shotty and AR works wonders when mixed with deception. At the same time the Sniper rifle it seems is at best good for killing a couple of guys till all the rest are on you.

Anyways might do a Salvador run later, I did crappy with the Commando though.

I don't have it yet :(

But that's the good thing You can use the bloodbath tree and it's so different to the sniper one you can get different playstyles from both. I think If I do that I'll use SMGs or shotguns too. But you can always respec for some credits. I think it's $5000.

Well, I tried out Maya last night. That Phaselock ability is pretty awesome. I was just messing around until my husband got home from work, so I only got her to level 8 before I switched over to Axton. Even at low levels, being able to freeze an enemy in place, (similar to a statis bubble), was quite handy. Especially when there are psychos and midgets running at you from all directions.

Axton's turret was also rather handy, but I am looking forward to a shorter cooldown. I hadn't done all the skill tree research you guys have done, so I was clueless about which tree to use. I started off with adding more health and shield on level-ups. I figured that would give me a little time to figure out which path to take. Oh, and as far as customization, I chose "Undah da Sea", with his default head. We did unlock some new customization options during the course of play.

My husband played Zer0. He looks pretty sweet, but I think you probably need to give him a little time to really hone his abilities. His cloaking/decoy ability actually threw me off a couple of times. I ran over and attempted to trade with his decoy more than once. I love his banter - it's kind of creepy and cool at the same time.

I was mostly using rifles, but got a decent sniper rifle as a quest reward (the one where you collect Bullymong fur). It was certainly better than the one my husband got at the same time. There are some powerful shotguns out there too, and you can get them early on.

I do have to agree with that review I read yesterday (the favorable review, not the idiot); I also seem to prefer the Jakobs guns. Maybe that guy influenced me, who knows.

I had no trouble playing with Zero, then again his cover/snipping coupled with close range charging is kinda how I play most shooters. Axton however I just could not play worth a tick.

I didn't have any trouble with Axton. I generally prefer playing from cover, or at a distance, so that play style suited me just fine. I almost had more fun playing as Maya, though. Maybe it's because she's cute as hell, I don't know.

Zer0 is definitely cool to watch. I might have to shift paradigms, and try him out.

WTF.

"Notice: Purchases of Borderlands 2 made in Estonia will be playable in Russian language only."

I knew game-devs weren't well-acquainted with culture and different regions than the americas, but this just takes the cake.

It's more Finland/Sweden here than Russia for Christ' sake!
We DON'T SPEAK RUSSIAN. Even if I do, I won't EVER buy a product with such idiotics (besides, even russians are good with english, we estonians even moreso - absolutely not so with russian though). WHY THE HELL only support one language?

Or is this a clever device to occupy neighboring countries, funded by the pres Putin?

:P

My brother and I are both horrible snipers so we opted to hand the fur over to claptrap. Got a nice 'splody shotgun. Also, Claptrap looks striking with his new mohawk.

And, to echo what everyone else appears to be saying, yes, phaselock is indeed sickeningly useful. I honestly can't see myself playing as any other character.

^ Claptrap gets a mohawk? That's awesome! Sir Hammerlock gets some rather large feathers in his (literal) cap.

We finally got to our first Catch-a-Ride station last night, right before deciding that 2:30 a.m. on a work night was probably a good time to stop playing.

Also, I did buy the Maya and Skag XBL avatar items. I'm so cheesy. Image IPB

Currently using Axton myself. Using the Eyepatch head since it the most piratey. I originally used 'Undah the Sea' too as my starter color scheme, but since moved him over to one the ones I unlocked instead.

I gave Claptrap the mohawk too. Loved the explosive Sniper-Shotgun he gave me for it. Also loving how the commando talk to his turret like its his girlfriend/wife. It amuses me terribly. I'm also have a fondness for Jacobs guns. Mostly for the old stylings. I picked up a few with blade attatchments so I'm running alot more melee than that class is probably intended.

We'll see how my Pirate-Commando build works as I get deeper in.

@eroeru: Tough luck. I can see how that sucks. Perhaps you can get your hands on a foreign version then.

I remember for KotOR we didn't get the free DLC in Scandinavia because they did not want to localize it. The thing is, we use the UK version anyway, which isn't translated from the US version. Some of this localization stuff is just bureaucratic BS of the worst caliber.

Every player I know does not WANT a localized version. They want the English version.

Woah, woah, woah, hold your horses there!

It's much too early to tell. Some observant people over on the Gearbox forums have noted how Phaselock is possibly the WORST class skill for the tougher fights such as raidbosses where Phaselock will just deal damage and you won't get any of the bonuses associated with it.

My guess is that Maya is going to turn out to be one heck of an area affect specialist with full Cataclysm. Single-target might belong to other characters like Zer0. Seriously, check out his sniping tree. If you're good, your damage will be absolutely insane.

Axton looks like he has some seriously good skills. The turret cooldown may or may not be OK depending on how well it scales. Roland's turret turned into nothing more more than a few seconds of distraction and an ammo dispenser. A great skill, but clearly not tested well enough at high levels. Axton's turret has much less utility, so it HAS to scale properly.

^ I was able to use phaselock on Boom Bewm, and it was quite useful. Of course, that was a very early boss fight, so who knows how things will shake out later. I more or less treated phaselock like ME stasis (just to keep myself from getting swarmed too badly).

I am not saying phaselock is bad. But I am pointing out that it may not be universally better than everything else, and that other classes may need some time to grow.

Personally, I think Ruin + Converge is going to be amazing for clearing up crowds.

Anyway if BL2 is anything like BL1, Playthrough 1 is going to be a walk in the park compared to the endgame. It's the scaling that makes or breaks everything really.

PS: I don't have to work this Friday. This mean... Well, you can guess :)

Oh, I have no doubt the other class skills are/will be just as good or better than phaselock, but right now, being able to hold enemies/bosses still while being able to concentrate fire on their faces and amass oodles of critical hits...

I like.

I'll get back to you when it becomes useless. ;)

Well the Turret is useful in much the same way. It gets everyone's attention and lets me pick my targets at my liesure. Phaselock seemed less fun for me when I tried it, but I do enjoy the shorter cooldown. And I'll probably like it better once I unlock it exploding.

Am I totally crazy? The guy at GameStop talked me into buying the Borderlands 2 Season Pass - all 4 DLCs for the price of 3, so it was $29.99. He almost had me talked into a strategy guide. I am such a sucker for this game!

When I redeemed the code, I got 2400 MS points, which I turned around and used to confirm the season pass in the game menu. Pretty nice not to have to worry about it later. I saw that you could also just buy it through the Downloadable Content menu.

Have I mentioned today that this game is freaking awesome? Vast improvement over the first Borderlands, which was pretty great in its own right.

OK, my work here is done.

I'm playing this, Maya is awesome. Phaselock is sooo much better than Lilith's phasewalk from the first game. And elemental attacks still murder just as hard.

Just got my first 'orange' item...a Grenade that when it explodes in a huge highly damaging explosion, spawns 10 more grenades of the same power in an area around the initial explosion.

*cries tears of joy...or is that from being blinded by the lightshow?*

Okay I just used Phaselock to hold Captain Flynt in place while I one shot him with the above grenade of awesome.

I may have to rethink my initial dislike of Phaselock. Did not expect it to work on bosses.Image IPB
