When you have to solo wave after wave while three others lie dead.

When you have gold medal for revives, on wave 5.

Banshee/phantom instakills you and team falls apart, match failed. Once had a killing objective on wave 10 gold, killed one, was ambushed by another and instakilled. Three suckers just died without even using medi-gel or rockets. Looks like they didn't need 30k creds.

I absolutely hate that, there was a gold match where I got sync killed on wave nine (through a wall, thanks Atlas) and all this guy needed was one rocket to kill the remaining enemies. they were all grouped together, but apparently that was too much to ask.

You know you're carrying someone when they're dead in your arms and you feel the cold feeling of death creeping ever closer. The only thing you can think of doing is looking up and scream at the sky for an answer to the question of "Is this really worth it?" This constant battle for control of the Galaxy has taken it's toll and you're now in the death count, but you won't be appearing on the plaque of the names K.I.A. No no no, there's a much harsher fate in store. No matter how hard we fight for this "Galaxy at War", and no matter how valiant our efforts we're playing a deadly game of chess. We may not to be remembered. and even if we accomplish nothing we'll know in the end we helped take back what was ours. In the face of that we still do our job until we are taken out on the battlefield. We stand together until the final push and beyond. We are N7 Special Ops.

You know, I didn't know where I was going with all that. I really honestly tried to answer the question.

Well, sometimes, randoms screw up spawns. Sometimes, I find that worse than soloing, since when you solo, you control the spawns yourself.

When someone needs is downed all the time, and/or doesn't kill anything, you're carrying him/her.

Thats called leeching.

When I know Im carrying is when I am the last man standing for multiple rounds and/or the beginning of a single round.

This happens a lot...especially with higher level N7 rankers actually.

Score doesnt really matter. As long as said player is helping with objectives and surviving the waves then I wouldnt say Im carrying them.

And then the guy who's "death" you agonised over hops right back up when you headshot the last Cerberus trooper of the wave, thus rendering your poetic tyrade moot.

Unconsiousness and death. Learn the difference. BioWare didn't *coughlazaruscough*

Check the score during the game. If they have a signifigantly lower score than you then you are carrying them. If they die allot then you are carrying them.

However it also could be that you are a douch and not letting anyone else kill anything. Maybe you are in a silver match camping the spawn sites with you Geth Infultraitor and Claymore X. You are not carrying the team you are just being a douch.

When you need to do all the work and your team mates keep dropping like flies.

Score doesn't tell the full story, because as long as team mates are generaly reviving eachothers and doing objectives, even when they "suck" at killing. I can live with it and they aren't basicaly being carried.

Surely you're playing the wrong game.

Noticing a few people saying things like
"If they would have failed the mission if you werent there"
"If they would have died without you"etc

You guys know this is a 4p co-op game right?
Because you're kind of acting like if you cant solo, you're a burden and shouldnt be playing.
Which honestly if that is your opinion, you shouldnt be playing this co-op game, you should find something single player more suited to your taste.

At the end of the match, if there is someone with a significantly lower score, like around 20k, you carried them.

Did you carry them or did you just kill more stuff while they were completing objectives? Did they get magnet-handed early in a round? Etc.

Points aren't really a direct indication of contribution or skill.

If the difference is that large then yes it is.

People tend to use "I was playing a support class" or "I was getting the objectives and reviving people" as an excuse.  I routinely get the majority of the objectives for my team, do my share of revives and still get scores on par with the rest of the team.

Score DOES matter, it's directly related to damage dealt.  A difference of 10k or so between players is to be expected, but when one player barely breaks 20k, and the rest of them have 80k or more, someone hasn't been pulling their weight.

Or you are just a better player, other players being average. But yeah, when it's 60k diffirence, it might be indication of something. But this isn't the case always.

I would agree on the whole, but sometimes, I play a more support role with an N7 Shadow - No points in the Elec. Slash -->only Tac. Cloak and Shadow Strike

Shadow Strike can help get me around the map quickly or behind the enemy to get to an objecive and longer Tac. Cloak to make getting through to revive people and PTFOing a lot easier.

Which means my damage output is severely reduced so I don't get as many points, but my usefulness is not rewarded on the score board as much - not complaining, just pointing out that sometimes it is not that that person is useless.  Quite often the lower scores will be a drag on the team, but not always.

If one player is miles ahead of the rest of the team, it IS likely down to them being more skilled, better guns, whatever.  But if only one or two players have far less score, that's a different matter

If people are routinely scoring very low, regardless of who they're playing with, it does indicate that they need to step down to a lower difficulty.

I thought it's more of showing how awesome they are in that particular game, that they can carry 3 others?

Hmm..this reminds me of the time I was playing as an N7 Shadow. I took a lot of flak from two players playing as N7 Destroyers with pre-nerf Typhoons. Since, I was using a Claymore, they claimed that the shotgun infiltrator should be top of the scoreboard. I came in third place behind those two. They think they were carrying me, but the thing was that I was the one that revived their sorry asses everytime when they died, which was fairly often. Both of them openly refused to revive me even if I died near them.

I think it's tactical retreat depending on the situation.  I've tried to use backward walk and shoot until I hit a wall and by then it was too late when Banshee tp too close (happened a few times).  So turn-and-run to a clear and safe distance is better.

*To answer the OP, I have excellent memory and can remember when and how the person dies, esp. if he/she happened to die in front of me.  But sometimes, it's just a matter of intuition.  It's also based on recollection of how each player was moving around the map and what they were doing most of the time.

I dun normally put much weight to the scoreboard, but there are extremes. When someone is doing faaaar less then their level/loadout is capable of, and ur solo-ing or duo-ing most waves, then the game becomes more a long trod than fun. When its 'work' just to keep the match going for just another round, that's carrying to me.

LOL. I had this happen quite a few times. Sometimes I even get fanmail from them. Why would I want to EVER play with them again?

Or maybe they are good players and are pretty new and don't have the upgrades that you have.  It makes a big difference in completing matches.
