Your wrist hurts? I dunno, I'm on Xbox.

I wasn't kidding, really. If you are carrying, you're really so busy during the game that you're working the controller quite hard. Transmits to the shoulders and an ache would set in. Of course, it depends on your personal RL fitness level,

Yup - wrists, hands and fingers might start to feel like they just had a good workout... or they just got trampled by a brute.

The term gets used WAY more than it deserves to be used. Had a game on silver last night. I outscored the team by a great deal had a number of rez's. I certainly did not carry the team at all.

If your score is double the 2nd place all the time, and the other players do not use consumables you are pretty much carrying.

When you are dead, and you know those 3 won`t make it no matter what.
Yes. You were carrying.

Edit: I am only taking about Gold and above.

It really depends. If you get insta-killed, and the team falls apart instantly, you may have been carrying them. If you have 15 revives, all of which happened within 1-3 waves, then you're probably carrying them. If you have 80K+ score, compared to sub-30K across the board, again, you're probably carrying them.

It really is a case by case thing, though. I've had some pretty terrible scores, but have been an aid to the team. I have had times where I've gone down a bit more that I should, and still had the highest score. It is really dependent on more than certain factors, it depends on the people you're playing with.

Hmm..this reminds me of the time I was playing as an N7 Shadow. I took a lot of flak from two players playing as N7 Destroyers with pre-nerf Typhoons. Since, I was using a Claymore, they claimed that the shotgun infiltrator should be top of the scoreboard. I came in third place behind those two. They think they were carrying me, but the thing was that I was the one that revived their sorry asses everytime when they died, which was fairly often. Both of them openly refused to revive me even if I died near them.

Personally I go for the Phaeston (X) w/ Ext Barrel (V) and Piercing Mod (V) with all the cool down perks in trees.  But in  fairness, all the people who spammed the Elec. Slash when it first landed did give the character a bad name.  And well, Soldiers are meat heads, tactical thinking is mythology to them.  They prefer the simple big gun + big mag + big bang = big mess = Instant erection philosophy...not that I ever put on the Revenant or Typhoon and use Devesator mode to turn them into what is effectively bullet hose...

Sometimes it's just that snowball effect. You die, the second guy gets downed trying to rescue you before he understands you're actually dead for good, and the other two get swarmed. Happens even with the good players / teams unfortunately.

I know. Like I said, it is all dependent on situation, not just certain factors.

Did you carry them or did you just kill more stuff while they were completing objectives? Did they get magnet-handed early in a round? Etc.

Points aren't really a direct indication of contribution or skill.

If the difference is that large then yes it is.

People tend to use "I was playing a support class" or "I was getting the objectives and reviving people" as an excuse.  I routinely get the majority of the objectives for my team, do my share of revives and still get scores on par with the rest of the team.

Score DOES matter, it's directly related to damage dealt.  A difference of 10k or so between players is to be expected, but when one player barely breaks 20k, and the rest of them have 80k or more, someone hasn't been pulling their weight.

Or you are just a better player, other players being average. But yeah, when it's 60k diffirence, it might be indication of something. But this isn't the case always.

If one player is miles ahead of the rest of the team, it IS likely down to them being more skilled, better guns, whatever.  But if only one or two players have far less score, that's a different matter

If people are routinely scoring very low, regardless of who they're playing with, it does indicate that they need to step down to a lower difficulty.

I don't mind, as long as we are winning or doing well otherwise. If they can keep up and stay alive, while assisting. I'm fine with it. And there has been many times when people who have scored way less than I have been last ones alive and made it to the ending of the wave, me being dead to some silly mistake.

Score is not clear indication of carrying.

Individual points have nothing to do with that. I've had matches were I or other players had a point surplus to the other ones of up to 50k, from both sides, yet all of those were pretty useful teammates.

The point to carrying other players is that without the carrier, they wouldn't succeed the game. If you see that one or more players are hopelessly overwhelmed by the game's difficulty and relying on you to complete it, then they are being carried. If they just have low scores but do fine, then you are simply a better player or have the better suiting setup for the match.

Its not about score. Its about the ability of the other 3 to take care of themselves.

I consider it a "carry" if i have to solo waves more than once and its not a mopping up operation (ie the wave budget is still good and strong to spawn 2+ full spawns). This sort of situation normally coincides with having to revive the other 3 guys a lot.

In a recent game in Rio/Reapers/Gold, there was a paladin who stayed in the rearmost container with the 3 grenade box and tanked 2 banshees by staying in the container while i went around killling the other spawn (other 2 dropped way early) before taking out the bosses. He might not have gotten much points since he spent a lot of time in "shield plant" mode but it was an invaluable part of making the wave bloody faster and easier. I did not consider myself carrying him at all but rather, he was a important team mate in that mission.

Note: The guy was not trapped because he could missile his way out as he use missiles on wave 10. Even without mics on PC, you know when its a deliberate ploy.

If I have to solo multiple rounds, if I'm picking up someone multiple times a Wave, or if I have to do the objective rounds by myself, then I'm carrying them. That's about it.

Even if I finish the match and I have a score that's higher than the combined score of the other three players, I don't necessarily consider that carrying. If they kept out of the way, killed what they could, didn't do stupid things and helped with the objective, then they did okay. It's just that I killed a ton more stuff.

If you consider yourself carrying someone because you have a high score over the others than quit playing team base games and go back to playing COD where your score in the end game result actually does matter. Like people above have said it depends on the situation for determining if your carrying not the score itself and like someone else has said before me. If they are obviously relying on you to get them through every single way or majority of the waves than yes you are carrying them but by all means carrying doesnt mean you have a twice their score. I am reliable teamplayer because i remember to call stuff out and keep up with reviving me, even to the point where i get mad that someone took my revive lol for how silly that sounds i am not reliable with keeping a high score but with keeping the teamwork going.

Oh, and an addendum:

If I'm having to burn consumables because a player doesn't have any, or isn't willing to use them, then I'm probably carrying them.

This.

Apart from that, the most obvious indication is having to constantly revive player(s) in question every single wave.

Although it seems obvious, this is not always the case.  Support roles don't usually score high because they will end up doing most all the objectives (basically making sure YOU get paid) while their score only reflects high levels of assists.  Assists don't get you high on the scoreboard.  You might find this frequently on the harder difficulties.

Score is only an indicator that you are good at taking things down. I have played with a friend running a melee GI. He completely out scored me by 100k, but I got the 15 plus revive medal constantly picking him up off the floor. I probably would have gotten 50 plus revives if one exsisted being the other two players were less than n7 50 in a gold match and I swore I was running room to room to reviving them all.

You are carrying if you are spending more time reviving, using equipment(rocketing or medigelling) from the rest of the squad.

Very true.  Shadow is very good at this, especially with a level 3 running upgrade.  Currently, without communications, there isn't a way to know if a downed teammate is waiting on you to revive, or they really don't have any medigel.  And I don't yell at people who don't have medigel.  It's very easy to run out, especially if you are spending all your credits on the higher quality packs which rarely give you the consumables you need, but getting better weapons is crucial to increasing DPS.

I would say it was several factors.

The difficulty of the fight is generally a good indicator for me, as if I am practically soloing waves it will feel like it. usually i would say score is somwwhat of an indicator. I have had matches where an adept will join and score 8k in a full G/P matches, in this way I would say they where performing poorly.

Howwever I have been in great matches where I have fought with some guys who obviously had not been playing long having bad/ weaker gear sets, yet they have had the inteligence to do things and draw fire, Allowing me to annihilate full spawns and groups with impunity. because of the way scoring is calculated, I would in this instance outscore them, but they had enabled me to reach that score through their own intelligent actions.

So be careful when using score to judge this.

I assumed Kira originally meant the top score merely being 20k higher than the lowest score, not that the lowest score WAS 20k compared to 80k.

if someone has a score of 5k while the rest has around 30k, there's not much of a question that they've been carried.

Its possible that the player is experimenting with a new weapon loadout and is discovering that its not working.  There's also the possibility that they have a sketchy connection.

Instead of quitting the match, when the above has happened to me I have just tried to keep my head down and do what I can to finish and revive downed teammates (you all die.   All of you die one time or another in a match)  ... and not loose my equipment loadouts.

What you 'heros' are calling "carrying" is considered teamwork
to most people .

With happiness, score has nothing to do with it, medals on the other hand are a good indicator on a players skill, although are still not completely reliable.
