Mhm

Likely addendum: A Developer works on the Graphics engine, not to be confused with a writer who pens the script.

I think it's fine that people don't pre-order, but I find it odd that there are people who choose not to pre-order and then complain about not getting the pre-order goodies for free.

This has happened for every game where I recall BioWare giving out said pre-order goodies.

We all know Bioware will make a pre-order DLC character that is otherwise $10. I'm not going to let this trick me a third-time just to get a sub-par game on release. I think i'll wait a few weeks for it to drop to $30 like ME3and DA2 did. Anybody else not going to be tricked by Bioware again?

You're wise. Don't listen to the people that say it isn't trickery. If that's your experience with BioWare games, then it's a perfectly valid opinion. Save your money on what you think will be the best choice.

This pretty much sums up how I feel.

As far as gaming reviews go, I really think as a player you need to take time with the game and see how it plays for you. Online reviews and bogus trailers can only convey so much, and they are expressing someone else's perspective. And if I end up wasting $60, oh well, don't really care. I guess I'll make that up by working a couple extra hours during the week, which will really give me a chance to spend more time on reddit.

Did you play console or PC? Because if you played DA:O and DA2 on console, you can see that the graphics improved (for console). DA:O for console has very ugly graphics.

I hear this all the time and to be honest it's starting to **** me off a little bit. How was Dragon Age 2 rushed exactly ?

You mean, aside from the reused area maps, the whole third act, a city with it's inhabitants that didn't change at all during a 7 year period of time, the non-coherrent story, and how none of your previous chices affected the ending? The UI that was frustrating at best if one played at PC? The many features from DA:O that was simply removed, like origins, secondary skills. or secondary weapons? The ability to equip your companions new armor? Using paraphrases in the dialogue wheel that makes you say something completely different than what one imagined?

A better question might be, what WASN'T rushed in DA2? I can answer that with one single word: "nothing". While I did like some attempts, like making a more personal story that isn't about saving the whole world again, the way it was executed was most definetely rushed. Even the combat was rushed with the spawning enemy waves that made little to no sense at all (giant spiders climbing down on their nets from the... open blue... sky?! Really?!)

I think this would depend on what BioWare would like to offer for preorders. I did preorder Dragon Age 2 SE in order to get Sebastian dlc but to be honest it's not worth the price they are asking in my opinion. I'd rather get the base game at $40 so I can get better contents like legacy using the same amount of money.

I've played it on all playforms. 360 looks the worst, PS3 looks mostly like it does on PC, and PC obviously looks the best. DA:O still had outdated graphics though. Difference is, I liked the aesthetic of it, whereas for me, the aesthetics in DA2 are bad on top of the graphics which makes it look even worse to me.

I'm one of the people who tore Dragon Age II a new ass when it was released and actually strongly considered abandoning the Dragon Age series after that game.  Now I'm calmer and I'm actually looking forward to Dragon Age III.  I won't pre-order and I'll definatly check out reviews from reviewers I trust first but I will more than likely buy it.  BioWare has to hit this one out of the park if they pretty much want to survive as a company and I still think they can do it.  Hopefully fan wrath has scared off the EA execs that somehow thought using ME2 metrics to design DA2 was a smart idea.

If the end result is a game where very talented and creative people worked together to create an outstanding game I will happily use my money to make a statement that I do NOT want games that were made by a comittee that stitched together popular and trendy ideas from other games into a frankensteined mess of a game.  If DA3 goes well then pre-ordering BioWare games in the future will be a definate possability.  Right now I feel I need to be cautious with this company though.

DA3, I would pre-order and pay full price for right now.

DAO2, I would pass on.

I'm going to pre-order the **** out of it. As a matter of fact I'm going to pre-order two copies, one on PC and one for Xbox- so that cancels your lack of pre-order out. Pwn.

Ive always enjoyed Bioware games and pre order the collectors of all of the,. I enjoyed ME3, and despite a few issues (the reuse of so many areas) I was pretty happy with DA2. Origin is a deal breaker for me though. I got ME3 despite the Origin requirement. I had to to see the final chapter of the series. I wont do it again though. No Origin requirement? Game pre ordered the day its available to be, and upgraded to Collectors Edition as soon as its possible for both PC and PS3. Origin Required? No purchase at all.

That doesn't sound like something the devs would say.Brent Knowles praised  (skip to developement) how polished the game was.

Not that it matters...

From a DA2 DEV:

"Dragon Age 2's development was very accelerated. It was the first BioWare game to my knowledge where the studio didn't have the luxury to take as long as they needed. The full game, start to finish was done in around 11 months. That's much like Obsidian's development of KoTOR 2, except Obsidian had around 2 dozen developers, while BioWare had about 180 (not including QA and Marketing)."

Not a DA2 Dev but worked on music score - Inon Zur
"Unlike other titles from Bioware, this [score] was kind of a rush job. EA really wanted to capitalize on the success of Origins, so the game was really being pushed hard to be released now."

That does sound like EA, ready or not..push the button.

They did a good job with ToR too...it's pretty much on life support with a skeleton crew now. I blame the worse CS I've ever experienced with an MMO as part of the reason. Yes, all this time I thought Ubisoft and Atari had the worse CS until ToR. Sigh

As to pre-order or not? How can one pre-order a game that has not been announced yet? Image IPB

Personally I never care for pre order goodies and never complain, so I agree with you that people who don't pre-order shouldn't really complain about the lack of goodies. However given the current climate on the PC games market (where the price of games sometimes drops by as much as half in a couple of months though sales) it doesn't make sense from an economic point of view to buy games on release unless you really want to play it asap, or if it has some form of online based progression (like MMOs).

As of now, no. If I see something that convinces me its way more than DA2: Part II, this may change. Until then, no.
