i worship at the temple of demo. the almighty god of demo will determine the whole of my destiny. all hail demo the mighty, the insightful, the prophetic, and the wise. the i-don't-have-to-waste-a-dime-if-it's-only-going-to-suck. i let my supreme deity determine what i will pay in advance to agonize over waiting for.
I do not trust demos. For example, Dragon Age II; one of the game's biggest flaws was reused maps but you can't notice it by playing the demo. I think the safest way is reading honest reviews (not some "this-game-is-the-best-RPG-in-the-decade-because-it's-an-EA-game" folly) and playing a large portion of the game before buying.

I currently own five copies of ME1, three copies of ME2, three copies of ME3, three copies of DAO and two copies of DA2. Yes, I will be getting my DA:I CE on day one. It says BioWare Edmonton on the box!
Why buy so many copies of the same game?

There's a little story behind each purchase. I would imagine most would not buy another copy for such easy reasons, but it's not like I bought all of them just to look pretty on my shelf - nor was every copy of every game picked up for the same reason.Sejborg wrote...

That's cool. I don't get it though. But fair enough.

Fool me once, shame on you (DA:2), fool me twice, shame on me (ME3).
I don't want to be fooled again.
That's not to say that I don't have hope, because I do! (please please please please please be good)- it's just that I don't want to suffer the anger winding up a fool yet again would cause me.
I'd rather regret not pre-ordering.

There is little to no incentive to pre-order unless you really want to gobble everything up on Day 1.
Anyway - personally, unless the collectors edition has some crazy good physical package, no. Pick up at a later date after the dust has settled and user (not game sites) reviews are scoured.

Oh the dialogue wheel that was used in mass effect that nobody had a problem with ? you mean that one ? People complain purely for the sake of it these days. They want their games to be good and they want them yesterday. I will give you the companion armour one though that did irk me a little bit but it didn't break the game. They tried a new format it didn't work out that's all. Just because you ddn't like it that doesnt mean it was rushed.Amycus89 wrote...
You mean, aside from the reused area maps, the whole third act, a city with it's inhabitants that didn't change at all during a 7 year period of time, the non-coherrent story, and how none of your previous chices affected the ending? The UI that was frustrating at best if one played at PC? The many features from DA:O that was simply removed, like origins, secondary skills. or secondary weapons? The ability to equip your companions new armor? Using paraphrases in the dialogue wheel that makes you say something completely different than what one imagined?JimboGee wrote...
I hear this all the time and to be honest it's starting to **** me off a little bit. How was Dragon Age 2 rushed exactly ?
A better question might be, what WASN'T rushed in DA2? I can answer that with one single word: "nothing". While I did like some attempts, like making a more personal story that isn't about saving the whole world again, the way it was executed was most definetely rushed. Even the combat was rushed with the spawning enemy waves that made little to no sense at all (giant spiders climbing down on their nets from the... open blue... sky?! Really?!)

I love Dragon Age so I'll buy it no matter what, However, I will not preorder unless I get a good bonus like before! Something worth $10, like an extra character. Otherwise, I'll only buy the game once it goes on sale
Story content as pre-order bonus is not acceptable in my book.
Because that basically says, buy this game blind or we charge you extra.
That alone made me not buy DA2 and from the look of it, my fear was justified.

Nahh...I'll keep an eye on DA3, though. If the fan feedback one to two weeks after release is positive, I'll consider buying it. Otherwise DA3 will be the first BW RPG title I'll not buy for the first time since BG2.

grabbing DA3,but pre-ordering I'll decide when I see some actual
gameplay footage.
My main gripe with DA2 was the seeming identity
crisis of the combat, trying to be both an action game and a strategy
game, resulting in what felt like was too slow for an action game, and too fast and limited for a strategy game.
I'm hoping for DA3 they'll pick one and go with it.Either more actiony gameplay with automated companions a la ME,aswell as generally more "twitchy" gameplay to avoid the feeling of a hack&slash.
Or a strategy game with a,well, basically a bit slower paced (no,not DAO slow, something inbetween) Legacy-MoTA with a proper camera.Trying to think like a general can get pretty old pretty fast when most of the battlefield is outside the camera range.
