The first time I played through ME3, I was disappointed.  Even after I went back and played just the end again with the EC, I still wasn't too pleased.  But I just finished a new playthrough of ME2 and then ME3, and I really warmed up to it this time.

I think the first time through, I was so full of expectations.  I expected a big role for all of the ME2 characters.  I expected the Reapers to be defeated in a big space battle.  I expected certain past decisions to have a major impact on the ending.  So my initial reaction was to hate the ending for letting down my expectations.

The second time through I didn't have any expectations.  The ending is what it is, so I just played on through it, and I actually really enjoyed it.

It's still not what I wanted.  It's not at all how I would have done ME3.  But it's a great game, and a great story as far as video game stories go.  I guess I've made it through all seven stages of grief, and I've reached the acceptance stage.  I accept ME3 for what it is, and it's pretty excellent.

I can't bring myself to start another playthrough. Maybe when I bury Mass Effect and record my canon LP.

Really can't bring myself to play it again. I replayed ME1/2 recently and that made it even worse.

Maybe one day I'll manage to do a trilogy run.

If you count apathy as better, then yes.

I replayed it around 2 months after it came out, I still enjoyed the moments I liked on my first run, but the endings did not get better with time. In fact because I didn't have the driving force of "what's going to happen next?" through the story it made me more aware of it's failings in regards to the sidequests.

ME3 is still a great game overall, but no my experience didn't improve with a second playthrough. Well the ending felt less like a suckerpunch to the gut since I knew it was coming so I guess that's something.

No, it actually gets worse.
The first time I had "New game" goggles on and I didn't see the other problems.

Now I keep yelling at my TV going "Why do you care about the kid Shepard?!"
"We need a plan B!"
"Shutup Reaper, you're controlled by a stupid looking kid."
etc etc

Yes, but my 2nd playthrough was with the EC installed. So the ending was literally better.

I felt better. Once you get over the initial disappointment, they're really not that bad. I basically worked out that controlling the Reapers would bypass all the big issues and was set from there.

I think I'm starting to enjoy the endings (and the entire ME3) on an ironic level.

I can laugh at the awkward dialogue skips (better flow? more like better fail), animation fails and the strange narrative and plot turns etc.

I even started to enjoy Kai Leng as a sort of comedic bad-guy wanna-be. Like Wimp Lo from Kung Pow or, to stay in the ME universe, an Evil Ninja Conrad Verner.

With time, I can sit through all of ME3 and have myself a good chuckle, and when the ending comes around, I will laugh my ass of the absurdity of the Catalyst, instead of grieving over the missed potential.

Worse, actually. Because this time you know the hit is coming, and the anticipation is excruciating.

First time around you're under the delusion that you did something wrong.

My Shepard was indoctrinated, after the starboy stopped talking i said to myself you crazy mutha F er I moved my Shepard to the side and shot that B in the head and after he said "so be it" I shut my game off and just head canoned that he woke up and destroyed the Reapers conventionally THE END..............ROLE THOSE CREDITS...........Mass Effect 1 main theme, M4 Faunts, Suicide Mission, ME3 Shepard Creation Screen Theme, A New Future For The Krogan Theme, then the screen goes black

I tried a new playthrough of ME1, but then I remembered what it leads to so took the game out and shelved it before I finished Eden Prime.

Nope. The dish is stale, rather than rancid. So it's better, but not ideal. I'm bipolar about the EC endings.

EC is palatable; but as I've said before, I can be philosophical about the endings because I wrote my own ending, and accept that as head-canon.

There's this weird feeling where my brain, at times, still refuses to believe that ME3 has anything to do with the rest of the trilogy.

Yes, actually. Instead of "what the hell just happened", my thoughts were more like "f**k you, Starchild, you badly-written POS. I'm going to enjoy killing you."

Actually, I revise my post. I actually felt some catharsis with the EC, not the empty feeling I got from the OE, so that was an improvement.

Been through it twice and my ME3 game is now collecting dust even after the EC. Unless a DLC adds more to the endings, I'll eventually trade it in.
