this is getting off topic. we need to discuss how zevran has been plagiarized. since he's a video game character, i'm not sure how much writing he has done, but still, this is serious and must be discussed.

Frankly, my main concern is that Antonio Banderas is going to sue Bioware for letting us have a glimpse of Zevran's side-arse during the sex scene, which is basically a computer version of Antonio Banderas's side-arse during a computer-generated sex scene, and I don't think Bioware got the rights to do that!

Zevran's accent is actually Spanish, but he sounds more like Inigo Montoya to me since they're both white guys doing Spanish accents. I don't believe that plagiarism can extend to something as broad as "they sound the same" since this is 1) subjective and 2) most likely accidental.

Regardless, Spanish accents are hot, so thanks for the movie recommendation.

You know, I think this thread is plagiarizing all the other threads about plagiarism. I demand an investigation!

Of course, why would i say it otherwise? Unless i'm wrong...

My understanding of the saying, in this case, is that in fictional litereature there is only so many basic plots, types of character, etc that can be written which is why you can't patent a type of story or somethign silly like that. Also what makes these absic types of story differ is the detail but you could argue even the "original" detail is not really original as all ideas are influenced by other things and are a mix of other diffrent "ideas."

You could start getting technical and argue it either way using maths/science or just straight up logic. e.g there is infinite ideas so how can there be no new ideas? but then you start getting into the realsm of arguing what is the definition of a "new idea", is a HDTV a new idea or just an advancment of an old idea?

sorry that ive worded this **** and brushed over it but its 4am so let me off :P

i didnt mean to babble so much, basically i intended it to mean something like; all ideas are made up and influenced by other things so are not truly original, maybe i should have just said that to avoid confusion.

There is no such thing as truly original thoughts... All of your thoughts, and everyone prior to my posts shall be prepared for a plagiarism lawsuit, as those thoughts have and always will be mine. :)

The sad thing, as previously mentioned, is that someone will ALWAYS find similiarities to other things, whether it be music, movies, TV shows, Characters, game mechanics, etc and cry foul! It's a shame we've become so quick and frivolous in regards to wanting a lawsuit......

This only leaves one more thing for me to say, Enchantment? (sue me) :)

What I mean is this: people often use the phrase "we can't all be shakespeare" to defend bad writing. Anything can be written well. People often use the phrase "there are no original stories" to also defend bad writing. Anything can be original, it just depends on what degree it lies.

My random story generator begs to differ!

This week, Archibald the guarded, but quizzically challenged acrobat intends to visit the Unknowable Manse of Suffering.

Secretly, Zevran was the true author of Shakespeare's plays.

People actually remember the movie Assassins? Zev's got way more in common with the cat from Shrek, don't you think?

Lol Hell yes that is exactly what I thought. I couldn't stop imagining that cat every time I spoke to Zevran.

As to the OP I have watched that movie and the similarities do not go beyond the obvious fact that they are both assasins and the amusing resemblance to Antonio Banderas's voice. That can hardly be called plagiarism.

When I heard Zevran's accent I thought it was more like a younger Ricardo Montalban (Khan.. "Wrath of Khan.. Star Trek") I don't know why I never thought about Antonio Banderas when I heard Zevran, but no I definitely don't think Zevrans voice and act are plagiarism, there's not enough similarities.

Shrek 2? But he was orange and a cat and he coughed up furballs so he was totally plagiarising Garfield.
