I discovered something that has altered the entire game for me.  I haven't seen anywhere else that this has been discussed so i thought i would throw this out there.

I don't know if it matters if you have beat the game once or not, but on my second play through when you first get to lothering, there is a woman allison who wants you to make her some traps.  If you make her some traps she thanks you and gives you 50 silver.  After that, she will give you 50 silver for each time you bring her traps, unlimited.

In the tavern, the storeowner guy sells trap triggers.  With the basic trap skill you can crate a trap from one trap trigger for like one silver.  You can also buy limitless trap triggers.  So you can make infinte amouts of traps and get infinite silver by selling it to allison, plus every time you give the traps to allison your whole party gets experience.  I also killed the first merchant who is arguing with the lay sister without even seeing his wares, i don't know if that matters or not.

This can take a while, i did this process over and over and made 3200 traps in 3 hours.  You could probably do it to level 50 for all i know but i got bored.  When i left lothering to begin the game, I was at level 20 with 475 gold with my rouge.  I don't recommend doing this on your first play though because it takes away from the leveling experience, but on the second or third play through it is awesome because you get to start where you left off after the first time except with a new character class and all the weapons are automatically tiered up.  So you are getting all dragonbone stuff to start out with.  And the enemies are all much more difficult.  I just thought i would see if anybody else knows about this.

LMAO.  Totally pwned.

Edit:  OP, that is a cool thing to note, and it is heroic that you spent that much time doing it.

I do believe, however, that is a known glitch.  :D

Appreciate your post in the spirit it was intended!

I didn't know the glitch, but its good to know that i didn't stumble into the twilight zone. Or I could play the game? Ouch, I thought buying and selling traps for three hours was playing the game? I was holding the controller and pushing X a bunch? How do you think merchants survive?

Good way to get the level 20 achievement for a class you don't enjoy. Wont make you enjoy the game any more... infact, since you can only get to 25 at the moment, it would take a lot of enjoyment away for me.

I believe it takes a special kind of astute mind to think of and notice glitches like this.

I believe it takes something entirely different to sit there abusing it for HOURS to skip a good chunk of the game.

Or you could use the console and cheat and save yourself 3 hours of proving you have no life. Ca-ching.

Strange, thought the last patch removed this exploit. Anyway, a huge waste of time and fun

LOL, this cracks me up. People get pissy about him abusing a glitch in a SOELY singleplayer game.

What happend to gamers, I mean I get it if this were an MMO, or a FPS where competition with real players would cause this to be abusive, but good god. WHO CARES

nice catch OP, I'll probably do that for few minutes tonight on my new play through.

Than again, im on the console so I might just Runscript zz_money 999999999 :)

Given that he mentions a "controller" i'm guessing he has 360/PS3 version, and thus the exploit hasn't been patched yet.

Who got pissy?

The worst I see is people saying that doing that isn't any fun... I guess we've got different definitions of "pissy".

Well it's not like him lvling that early will help really considering enemies scale.

Honestly... that's a fair trade off for 3 hours of gaming... how long does it take us to reach 20 anyway? for me it's usually some 60-80 hours every playthrough ... but... I love it! That's one of the aspects of any RPG that I love... I love the development of the char and starting at level 20 would pretty much kill it for me.

I still remember how everything got different when my AA reached 40 in some online servers... getting there is a lot more fun than being there, imho.

you could as well use the glitch with Duncan in Ostagar. Does the same, but you dont need to buy and craft but ONLY talk. And, yes, you could do funnier things with your time, for example writing in this topic as if you would care!!!!!

xD

Nothing sounds funner to me than doing the same damn thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Doing that must surely rank as one of the most boring ways of willingly using your free time that I can imagine. I think I'd rather watch a Party Political Broadcast for Gordon Brown, in slow motion...

Kudos for having an attention span equivalent to the average mountain...but seriously, how can that be fun?

Lol, you people are hilarious. It's like I committed some kind of video game crime. Hurry call the nerd cops!

I already played the game through for 80 some hours and it was enjoyable. Now I am going through more powerful killing everyone innocent or not without having to worry about gaining xp because i lost a sidequest or what not. I am enjoying it, does that make me a criminal?

Yes i am on the ps3 version and the mere fact of starting with 475 gold is nice, you can buy all that stuff people never get, playing through the game by the normal standards. Some of you are self-righteous gamers thinking that a single player game has some sort of noble creed. LOL!

For the rest of you, I hope this lets you enjoy the game to its fullest extent if you're willing to sacrifice a few hours. And even if you only want to gain a level or two and make a quick 100 gold then that works too. Who would have thought a little hint would bring on such pure geek rage and malice?

No offence, mate...but if you think this thread has rage or malice, you need to read the forums more :P

this thread is sweetness and light in comparison.

Guess most of us who've responded don't see the appeal in doing something so repetitive for 3 hours of gaming time. Sure, if it involved a hot babe and some whipped cream, maybe...
