If the hints are to be believed, DA3 will be set in Orlais. Orlais' most fearsome military units are thet chevaliers. Chevaliers are cavalry. Cavalry ride horses. This makes a large part of the setting require horses. Will they exist?

I doubt it, and I really don't mind. Horses are one of those things that, I feel, just won't add much to the game. There are so many other things to spend resources on.

I don't think will see them in gameplay, or if we do they'll probably be stationary and riderless, but we might see them in something like those little cartoon cutscenes that we got in DA2 when Varrics was describing things and in the opening video in the DA:O CC. In a part describing the Orlesian civil war perhaps?

I'm fine with them not being in the actual game, games with large maps that you have to travel through like The Elderscrolls benefit from horses but Dragon age has smaller maps and when you do travel a great distance by walking it's usually in a situation like the deeproads in origins where your having regular fights. So I don't think they're really needed.

The books have characters riding horses. Apparently dwarves are not very fond of them

I'd be happy if they at least add enemies on horses.

It's possible we may see a few, but that's about it.

I'd say the best thing to do is to have a "Mount and Blade" map. You can add so many features to that kind of map to enhance experience.

Horses: Party goes faster.
Wagons: Party goes slower at the expense of more things to carry
Caravn: Party goes a lot slower at the expense of ALOT more things to carry and a -85% chance of encounters

The list can go on and can go in sepeate routes.

I'd love horsies in DA3! If they were pastel coloured and a little smaller than in this world that would totally rock!

I would like to have them, like they were in NWN 1. Or at least for a travel, so we are seen riding on horses in a cut-scene like discusions.

It would be cool, even if they're just in the scenery or shown in cutscenes.

Horses would kinda be required for us going from country to country. unless there's some kind of train in dragon age?

They weren't required to make several trips across a huge country like Ferelden, so I doubt they would be required in that situation either.

Well I think it was mark of the assasin dlc where there was a portrait of a man riding a horse in the dukes home. So there might be a possibility we will see horses in Orlais. Don't think we will interact with them, but maybe through cutscenes. Be interesting to see if they do implement them. I for one am indifferent if we do use horses or not in game. If we do just make sure it's worth it bioware!

I spit on your wish for horses.

I don't know why people like horses so much. They're foul-smelling poop factories who break their legs if they so much as look at a rock in the road. And video games never do a good job of simulating proper horse care; they're always robotic automatons that can go weeks without rest or water.

I don't think so, in order for us to be able to ride horses DA3 would have to be a truly open world game like Red Dead Redemption or Skyrim where we could actually walk from one end of the realm to the other instead of having to fast travel travel by the now standard map feature that we have in DA and ME.
