I'm fine with them not being in the actual game, games with large maps that you have to travel through like The Elderscrolls benefit from horses but Dragon age has smaller maps and when you do travel a great distance by walking it's usually in a situation like the deeproads in origins where your having regular fights. So I don't think they're really needed.

Might see them around, but i doubt you can ride one.
Can you beat on a dead one?
Ok, bad joke, but I had to say it.

Horses: Party goes faster.
Wagons: Party goes slower at the expense of more things to carry
Caravn: Party goes a lot slower at the expense of ALOT more things to carry and a -85% chance of encounters
The list can go on and can go in sepeate routes.

They weren't required to make several trips across a huge country like Ferelden, so I doubt they would be required in that situation either.Ericander77 wrote...
Horses would kinda be required for us going from country to country. unless there's some kind of train in dragon age?

I don't know why people like horses so much. They're foul-smelling poop factories who break their legs if they so much as look at a rock in the road. And video games never do a good job of simulating proper horse care; they're always robotic automatons that can go weeks without rest or water.

I don't think so, in order for us to be able to ride horses DA3 would have to be a truly open world game like Red Dead Redemption or Skyrim where we could actually walk from one end of the realm to the other instead of having to fast travel travel by the now standard map feature that we have in DA and ME.Sith Grey Warden wrote...
If the hints are to be believed, DA3 will be set in Orlais. Orlais' most fearsome military units are thet chevaliers. Chevaliers are cavalry. Cavalry ride horses. This makes a large part of the setting require horses. Will they exist?
