Hello,
I have decided to get all achievements on ME1 so that I can finally 100% the trilogy.

Thing is I don't know how I should get into Insanity. Should I import my Level 60 Vanguard and rush through the main quest and do the other achievements later? What do you think?

Are you planning to import to ME2 and ME3 or just playing for the achievement? You can just go through the main story elements if you want the achievement, I would think. You definately want to play with a high-rank character and save frequently! I am probably 75% through a thorough Insanity playthrough because I want to import my Shepard through all three games.

My only insanity playthrough was with a high level vanguard (started at level 57, finished at 60). It wasn't particularly difficult, thanks to my maxed out abilities and excellent gear; however each and every mook you fight takes a long time to kill, so the battles dragged on forever. It just felt like an endless grind. If you just want the achievement and don't plan to import that playthrough, then my advice is to ignore all the side quests so you can get it over with as quickly as possible.

Now my playthroughs are all on casual. Even engineer-Shepard feels like Rambo.

Edit:  Even skipping the side-missions, you should still be able to get some of the "use X 100 times" and "kill Y enemies with a shotgun" achievements.

Starting a new char for insanity was alot more fun than importing imo, although you will have to do some side quests and whatnot. The fights are enjoyable though, as shepard is not rediculously overpowered.

I'm just planning to do it quickly, no import. I have really good gear and weapons so I think I'll just rush through the game.
That's not the grinding part though, I still have use x amount of times this power and kill y amount of enemies with this weapon. And THEN I can create my first FemShep for all three games.

bit late but

you'll need to do some planet side grinding if you want to take a "perfect" insanity save through to me3

conrad in me3 springs to mind

I finished it on Insanity, it really wasn't difficult, the only problem was the Mako.

I thought the Benezia boss fight was a right b*tch to deal with on insanity but other than that it was ok.

Benezia boss fight? I died once because of a sniper I believe. But then I was a Vanguard.
