Bringing back the "anti-intellectual" comparison again? Sigh. I live in the ghetto, the ghetto.

@Night Mammoth, Its no use, once the vulpine menace has set his sights on ranting at you petty things like logic and civility no longer apply.

Why do you play Mass Effect?

Why do you have to be such an anti-intellectual bully? It's a valid question, and anyone who isn't stricken with obliviousness would be quick to realise that that's exactly what's going on. You're insulting him and bullying him in the hopes that he'll stand down.

To wit...

The Night Mammoth wrote...

Aside from whatever vapid post-ending headcanon scenario you've got cooking at the moment [...]

Was that necessary? He's more creative day to day than your entire posting history. That's 'vapid' now, is it? Are you jealous? Are you afraid of and threatened by him? To be honest, I'm tired of the anti-intellectual bullying that goes on, here. I've called it out before, and now I'm calling it out again.

The Night Mammoth wrote...

[...] but why would like this game when most of your personal views conflict whith what the game actually promotes?

Do they? I'd actually say that you're pushing this on him because you have an incredibly narrow view. Let me lay something out for you, here: Your inability to understand him is your problem. If you weren't so openly hostile and you spent the time speaking with him and trying to understand him, then perhaps you'd gain that understanding. Instead, all you (and those like you) are doing is engendering hostility towards you, due to how hostile you are towards others.

I only ended up so anti-Destroy because of a long history of anti-intellectual bullies attacking Synthesis fans. You tend to gang up and make personal attacks and hope that it'll make those who have different perceptions than you shut up, so that you can have your paradise. But you know what that does? That proves Seival right, that you can't co-exist with his opinions.

In my opinion, he's more in tune with the ME Universe than you are.

The Night Mammoth wrote...

Is the whole series just a meaningless series of events now, so that you can bull-rush to the end and force your views on the galaxy as a dictator?

And Destroy isn't that? See, you're being a bully again, and you're trying to string him up with your own straw-man. Dictator? Dictator how? But you won't be able to answer that, you'll just insult and dodge around the question again, like a bully does.

And how is forcing entire peoples to die not being a dictator? Those who've put ethnicities to death in the past aren't dictators? Really? Really now? Okay.

See, you're a bully. You don't talk a lot of logic, you just talk a lot of smack. I'm not okay with it.

On your first point, you are extremely hypocritical, calling him an "anti-intellectual bully" even though it had nothing to do with what he said.

I concede the second point, referencing Seival's admittedly copious use headcanon wasn't really necessary, and comes off as somewhat attacking him.

On the third point, you revert to name-calling, insults and condescension. And this doesn't prove Seival's point right in the slightest. I can co-exist with people like HYR 2.0, Ieldra2, and other reasonable supporters of Synthesis. Why? because they rationalize their beliefs with well though-out and logical arguments.

You know why I can't co-exist with other Syntheisis supporters, say you and Seival? because they resort to name-calling, insults, condescension, using headcanon as facts for their arguments and just in general not making any goddamn sense.

Oh and I find it cute that you managed to bring up your same old Destroy argument when we're not even talking about Destroy. Destroy is as far from a dictatorship as you can imagine, as it ensures that there will be no ultimate power in the galaxy, at least for a very long time.

But it's more fun to assume Wulfie's the real deal.

Mammoth, you're arguing with Auld Wulf.

The guy who doesn't know what synthesis is.

About Synthesis.

The guy who doesn't know what a luddite is.

About Destroy.

It's almost as bad as arguing with David.

Thankfully, the human race hasn't adopted his apologist style of belief and probably won't.

Oh, I don't expect anything back, but I'm a petty b*astard who needs to have the last word and gets a kick out of replying to people to give as good as I get.

In all fairness, he didn't really give you anything. What he said was really just hogwash.

All I can say is there seems to be a lot of people here who don't understand that people have different opinions of things, or believe that theirs is inherently superior.

Very true. Even people who think they aren't guilty of this actually kinda are.

I've never seen a situation where synthesis was bad.

Combine peanut butter with chocalate? BAM Reese's!

Combine pizza with bagels? BAM Pizza Bagels!

Combine watermelon flavor with Dr.Pepper? BAM! Best drink ever!

Dr. Pepper and cinnamon liqueur. Now that's a synthesis I can get behind.

My licquorice omelette will stand as testament to the fact that synthesis is not always better.

A nice confirmation of the fact that everything Catalyst told us was correct. Differences can't co-exist, and any kind of toleration is nothing more but a time bomb.

...By the way, I'm glad all empires like that always end up assimilated. Protheans were consumed by the Reapers. Keeping in mind what Javik said, I think Protheans deserved that kind of assimilation. They became much better as the Collectors, they helped the Catalyst to make sure the new, better life will flourish.

It's this kind of cynical hogwash that makes synthesis even less palatable.

Pre-harvest Protheans were violent self-destructive idiots. They punished by death almost everything. If Reapers would leave them alone, Prothean empire would consume itself in the worst possible manner. Converting them into the Collectors was a gift, not a punishment. At least they stopped killing each other and helped the Catalyst to prepare the ground for new lives to grow and spread.

...And all of this doesn't make Synthesis negative. Synthesis is the whole new story.

Yes, because becoming indoctrinated to the point that your brain is mush and you don't mind that all of your internal organs are being replaced by machines to the point you're not even really alive is FAR more preferable to being a law-abiding citizen. The Prothean Empire wouldn't have collapsed just because they use severe forms of punishment. That is just what their society has become, and it was particularly stable given that they conquered most of the galaxy.

Going to the bathroom is inevitable synthesis is not and BW saying such for their world is nonsense. People like their machines that doesn't mean they'll 10 out of 10 strive to become one with them.
