The scale of such story will be too small. The best they can do in such prequel is something very similar to DE:HR. But with the reserved Dark Energy plot and using inevitable Synthesis they can make a stroy even more deep and massive than the story of ME Trilogy...

...Dark Energy plot can't be used for prequels. Its scale is too large, even larger than "the Reapers" plot.

And why does the story need to be larger in scale than the original trilogy? Are you telling me that the only way foward to is up the ante from galactic extinction? Why do we need to go bigger than this?

And the idea that "larger scale = deeper story" is laughable.

When someone is building truly amazing story, both scale and depth matters. I strongly believe the new story should be better than ME Trilogy in all aspects.

After completing the Leviathan DLC I have a feeling, that Sequel-RPG-Trilogy with inevitable Synthesis and ME3 save import feature is VERY probable scenario.

...Maybe we will have more clues on the matter in the subsequent DLCs?

Shepard VI coming alive makes no sense at all. VIs arent even influenced by Synthesis.

One more advantage of sequel with inevitable Synthesis is almost limitless possibilities for creating incredible, misterious, and phantasmagoric atmosphere we never experianced before in any game.

Thread dies only if there is nothing left to say. Or in case if it was closed.

Considering the FTL forums, I'm trying to reserve some thoughts and/or replies for the future. I can proceed even if it will be a monologue. There is nothing bad about that.

"Destroy

rebuild the Crucible and adapt it to be used as an additional power source. Everything went well, untill something went wrong and Crucible exploded... And everything ended up in a massive glowing-eyes-and-skin confusion.

I'm certain that would ****** a lot of people off
As most Destroyers hate Synthesis

I don't think so. Why? Because in case of Destroy, Shepard and her/his legacy died long ago. The described outcome is not something that Shepard could affect.

Don't make the same mistake as in case of original endings. Try to read the idea carefully and analize it first.

I wonder, how soon BioWare will announce the next game in ME Universe (if there will be any). Clearly not before they will stop supporting ME3...

...It will be really interesting to see what will be people attitude towards the inevitable Synthesis 2 years after ME3 release.

hey the catalyst only said that "now that we know it is possible , it is in inevitable" so i hopes that it only means that if the reapers weren't stopped they would achieve it now that they know this cycle is ready

or it means that it's inevitable and the next game wil take place in a synthesized future, in which case i will not partake, for my reasons

No. I think "triple Synthesis" took a couple of my brain cells and did God-knows-what with them.

Just imagine the possibilities for a true sci-fi story in synthesized future environment. They are almost limitless and really amazing.

That would do to Mass Effect 3 what it did to Mass Effect 2.

Aside from introducing a few new plot elements and building up the setting for the next game, it has little to no reason to exist in terms of the overall plot.

ME3 did nothing bad to ME2 or ME1.

In this particular case Shepard's story ended 500 years ago. But all major events still have impact due to ME3 save import feature.

And we still have Dark Energy plot reserved, remember?

I do not believe scale matters in the way you think. You can tell an amazing story in any setting with any scale. Lord of war, which is one my favorite movies ever, was not about saving the world from some grand threat. It was about a weapons dealer. Granted it was not completely small scale either, since the protagonist sold weapons to countries all over the world, but I never claimed my idea would be about following some average guy either. A spy game would still allow for a flexible and rich setting, that while a step down compared to the trilogy is still large in its own right.
