"Jumping into beam" is just a mental representation of the choice. And Shepard-Catalyst can improve Synthesis mechanics, so noone has to be melted.

Corrected OP according to the Leviathan DLC. Also, fixed some mistakes.

If someone disagrees with OP, he should give some reasonable answer (at least "I just don't like the idea" or something like that). False accusations in trolling can't be considered seriously, and will not do any good.

Suggested way to expand ME Universe is:
 - Better than branching sequels, because fans of one branch would never buy another branch.
 - Better than canonizing any ending, because a lot of fans will not buy new ME game with canonized ending.
 - Better than prequel, because there is nothing interesting in the past (we already know about all major events).
 - Better than not making new ME game at all.

So how is Synthesis triggered then?

I think that we don't really need to know exact mechanics. In case of ME3 ending it definitely requires Shepard to be harvested. If we use that for the idea discribed in OP, then:

...In case of Control, we already have Shepard's harvested essence, plus intact Citadel and Crucible. All Catalyst-Shepard needs to trigger Synthesis is to refuel the Crucible, and not to abandon an idea to study and explain Synthesis before applying it.

...In case of Destroy, Shepard is Leviathans' thrall. The rest is quite predictable, isn't it? Using thralls to rebuild Citadel/Crucible, refuel Crucible, and harvest Shepard to trigger Synthesis.

...Well, and in case of Synthesis we already have Synthesis :)

Corrected a lot of things in OP. The idea should look much better now.

Come on, it's literally jumping into a beam. It's not a dream or a metaphor. Shepard's body actually disintegrates to facilitate this process.

I'd rather nail my feet to a windmill.

Control
Catalyst-Shepard not only helped Galactic Civilization to rebuild, and prevented many conflicts, but also managed to cooperate with the Leviathans to study and improve Synthesis mechanics. Eventually, Synthesis was applied very carefully, so people believed they developed all new properties and abilities themselves.

Would not buy that game.  I will not cooperate with the Leviathans, I will offer to help exterminate them however.

It's one of those instances in which I support Javik's sentiment to let them rot in whatever abyss they're hiding in.

OP is actually a suggestion of how MEU can be expanded by a sequel without canonizing any ending. Did you expect to see actual facts in a suggestion about sequel? Suggested things become facts only after they were implemented.

I am honestly wondering- were you satisfied with your choice regerding the collectors base in ME2?and if you did i would like to know why.

There were only two options about the base, and I chose to keep it. In both cases all living beings inside die, which is very sad. But I don't like to waste valuable resources just because of some silly bravado and pride. However, that choice will mean nothing 500 years later, and I'm ok with that.

Well... actually that choice could be mentioned in a sequel via some dialogue for example. And there is nothing bad if it will not have some gameplay impact.

Seival would think a busted toaster is also very sad I'm guessing.

Personally I didn't think there was anything to get sad over regarding the extermination of the Collectors...if there was anything to be sad about I'd think it would be the tens of thousands of colonists that the Collectors already butchered before you could stop them.

I agree with the OP that, hypothetically, it's not hard to rationalize all-roads-lead-to-Sync.

They'd have to modify the setting a bit, but that's not an overly demanding thing to do here.

I still support Sync for canon because I feel like it would get the ME team back to doing what they do best -- storylines of smaller scope, and working with a blank slate to do whatever the hell they want to. That was ME2, for better or for worse!

It would also lead one BSN poster to light themselves on fire. C'mon now, who wouldn't want that?!? :)

still they will be giving a syth ending. While yes it would slove the writing issue. Don't you think you will be alienating 2 groups of players who picked Destory and Control? I guess with Control Shep indocerniates everyone and forces it on them. But still thats pretty much a big slap to the face to the ones who didn't pick synth. and agian it will be :your choice didn't matter at all"

And I think would put the nail in the coffen to alot of people not getting game. Just because of that. And in all honesty whats the point in brining over your save file? Just so we can hear sound bites of choices Shep made.

intresting idea, just don't think it will be well received.
