No.
I believe that intelligent advanced races will eventually embrace Transhumanism (Or transwhateverrace) on their own.

This however *does not* mean to include every living organism, at the DNA level as it is depicted in synthesis nor the fact that it is done so at a snap of the finger.

*nothing is earned*

There is no learning curve of dealing with living with a biosynth body, no one knows what side effects, what difficulties and exactly what one can do with their new bodies.
Just as you don't give a neutron bomb and detonator to a caveman, you just can't hadwave change done at the dna level to every living organism.
It's ethnically wrong and irresponsible.

Very sad? That's a new one.

Seival would think a busted toaster is also very sad I'm guessing.

Personally I didn't think there was anything to get sad over regarding the extermination of the Collectors...if there was anything to be sad about I'd think it would be the tens of thousands of colonists that the Collectors already butchered before you could stop them.

There could be some unprocessed people inside the base. Collectors didn't process everyone at once, that's why you crew had a chance to survive.

Also, all people who were already processed became a part of proto-reaper. And you had to kill it, which means the taken lives were wasted, and you could do nothing about it... Reminds me the ending of GITS: Innocence, what Batou said in the end...

...That's why Collectors base episode was very sad. Unlike ME3 ending, in ME2 ending Shepard wasn't able to save everyone.

You're right in that there could have been more people trapped.  I always assumed that the Normandy could scan for human life signs, hence why we were able to find the missing crew so easily.

As for the innocents that were butchered to create that Reaper abomination, they were already dead and all I could do was avenge their murders.  I GLADLY terminated the proto Reaper and the Collector threat.

And Innocence was not worthy of being the sequel to Ghost in the Shell.

The harvested are already dead, true. But by killing something they became after the death you (not Collectors or Reapers) make their deaths pointless. This is why killing husks is as sad as killing civilians. You can't feel good after that even if you had no choice but to kill them.

For me Innocence has equal or even better story than the original GITS. One of the best stories I've ever seen. I really hope that new BioWare IP will be something like that.

Wat.

Shepard doesn't save everyone in ME3 either. Especially not in Synthesis, which is a fate far, far worse than death.

@HYR 2.0

I have to admit that I feel that way very often, as there's always been those who have this frothing hatred for Synthesis. But then I remember that these are likely the same people who reacted to stem cell research with fear and hatred, and then I feel a little better.

You just have some people who'll never understand what science is, or where it's driving us, collectively. Every decade we build or discover something that improves and drastically changes us. Consider humanity now to humanity a decade ago, or humanity a century ago. Try explaining cloud computing/storage to someone from 1993.

You might convince some of them that it's possible, but others would simply believe that it's Sci-Fi. You might even have some that believe that such a thing would be impossible. So then you look at the BSN and it's kind of amusing to make the comparison, that there are people here who don't realise that this drastic change is occurring all the time, that decade to decade, we become very different creatures.

How many of you can imagine what humanity will be a decade from now, with all of the social networking technology on the horizon? Let alone half a century from now.

Beginning to think that Synthesis haters are just science haters, period.

As a man of science and an avowed supporter of transhumanism, I must inform you how wrong you are. The reality is actually to the contrary. It is mainly men of science such as myself who loathe Synthesis, because it is grounded in science to the same degree as cold fusion, homeopathy and ESP - which is to say, not at all.

To be quite frank, there is more science behind the magic in Harry Potter than there is behind Synthesis.

Wulf, its more people, me including hate the execution and the "forcing" aspect, which I know you don't agree with, but bare with me. Sure, you can relate the two, but to state that as a general view on people who dislike (not hate) Synthesis, hate science as well, doesn't really change or help anything.

That presumes a lot more thinking than I can believe is actually going on.

IMO, it goes more like...
> I don't like [x].
> [x] is bad because (anything bad I can possibly come up with, accuracy irrelevant).

That [x] can be anything from an ending, to a character, to a species. Doesn't matter. That "logic" rules around here.

What do you mean 'beginning' to think that? You've parroted that stupid generalization since you first appeared on this forum, and it's still the same vapid arrogance as it's always been. Get a grip on reality, it's the barely explained ending to a video game, not Darwinian world changing brilliance.

I used to oppose Synthesis for a variety of well thought out reasons.

But then I realized that it's waaaaaaaay more fun to be a sociopathic, mass murdering, genocidal, Luddite. So thank you Wulfie for making ME3 fun again!

I do not see it as you do.  How does killing that abomination make their deaths pointless?  Their deaths were pointless to begin with, murdered in an attempt to create another genocidal machine.

Killing husks does not make me sad, rather it would make me furious and fill me with rage at what the Reapers do to innocent lives.  They twist them and corrupt them into monstrous perversions of what they once were.

Even you and me can't see the same things the same way :)

You see, there is an abyss of misunderstanding even among different humans. Now imagine an abyss of misunderstanding between organics and synthetics, and to what kind of conflict it will eventually lead.

Humans kill each other every day just because they think differently, and have different traditions. Humanity can destroy itself easily after becoming enough powerful while keeping the differences of religions and traditions. By default humans refuse to understand they are all humans. And you can't fix that just by convincing people to unite. Each union fails eventually while people in it are still too different.
