There are "worse" endings in terms of execution. But when it comes to sheer disappointment the ME3 ending will be hard to beat.

The TV ending to Neon Genesis Evangelion. End of Evangelion was made to change the ending because of the fan outcry (the creator received quite a few death threats).

for me the former contender for worst game ending I've ever seen was half life 2: episode 2. but mass effect 3 takes the cake. no it doesn't just take the cake it smashes into the room in a semi truck, kills the rest of the terrible game endings and takes the cake hostage while shooting at the cops.

Hannah Montana the Movie was pretty bad, I was severely disappointed in it.
They went all Hollywood instead of sticking to what makes the show good.

I remember that Halo 2's ending was laughably terrible.

EDIT: I'm tempted to also mention HL2 Ep 2 simply because when you end a game on a cliffhanger like that it's practically the world's biggest troll when you don't ever mention it again for 5 years and counting.

That was used to bridge the games, though. It didn't end the series.

True but the title only stated endings, not endings to series.

I'm trying to think of one, and same here...

KotOR II ended on a cliffhangar with not much closure, but they intended a sequel...

Even Assassin's Creed Revelations which was overall pretty mediocre brought a lot more emotional closure.

(Unless of course if IT is true, in which case the end is brilliant)

Can't think of any I played that I much cared about. Determining what ending is worse than another is fruitless without context. If something is really good 3/4 of the way, the ending will stick out much, much more.
