Nier, or something, You kill all sorts of people, you can't save your daughter, and the plague has no cure so humanity will die out in the current generation. This made pre ending EC seem like a birthday party.

Um, the ending of Lost is fine... It's thematically rich and ends the narrative well enough. It's only seen as a disappointment to people who were more involved with the mysteries than the characters, and the show makes it pretty clear which of those two it's more focused on.

While it's pretty much universally considered a great game. Shadow of the Colossus had a massively depressing ending.

ME3's ORIGINAL ending: Somewhere above LOST (but just barely above it), and below Mockingjay. That's kind of where I place it.

Then again, there are worse endings out there:

Aww man, could you just imagine that ^ being shown in lieu of the "buy moar DLC" message post-credits?

Really? I mean yeah it sucked for the Wanderer, but his girlfriend does come back to life, and you get reborn as a baby or something.

Plus, and I can't stress this enough, your horse turns out to be alive. That was enough for it to happy for me right there, I LOVE YOU AGRO!

I still gotta go with KotOR 2. NWN2 was pretty awful as well.

Sopranos?

No, that one was good.

To compete against ME3 though, you'd need something more... universe-destroying.

What in God's name was good about it?

I can tell you that the ending to my last massage wasn't good.

It wasn't a happy ending.

The elegant minimalism, and it made a simple, yet compelling point. It could all be over just like that.

A brief further comment on the Sopranos. The cool thing is, there are only 2 possibilities that make sense in that scenario: Tony got whacked, or he didn't. It's like a coin toss that stays spinning in the air. There are no 213567 variables to nag at you. And in a way, the uncertainty of it is the essence of Tony's life.

There are lots of worse endings. But nothing as universe breaking as the ME3 ending.

What could be depressing about killing ancient marvels of nature, and sacraficing your life and soul to some demon just to resurect your wife?

Oh, And to top all that off out of the 10 or so humans shown in game, one is you, one is your deadish wife, your satan child, and about 7 other people who want you dead.

Shadow of the Colossus? I liked that one too. Not so much depressing as melancholy. Something very beautiful about that game.

The ending to Star Trek Enterprise is a million times worse than ME3's ending. It was so awful, and such a betrayal to both the fans and the series itself that one of the actors refused to be a part of it. Unfortunately breaking contract costs a lot of money so she ended up doing it anyway though.

KotOR II without a doubt. There is no narrative context for anything that is going on in the last mission, the environments are dull, the massive exposition dump by Kreia, the complete lack of closure for any character, including your own, completely unresolved plot involving G0-T0 (who shows up out of nowhere), and it ends on a cliffhanger that doesn't even do a good job of setting up for a sequel. These are all the results of severe cuts.
