Um, the ending of Lost is fine... It's thematically rich and ends the narrative well enough. It's only seen as a disappointment to people who were more involved with the mysteries than the characters, and the show makes it pretty clear which of those two it's more focused on.

But don't you think the writers shouldn't introduce an bunch of mysteriers if they don't intend to explain them?  As for the characters I thought having 7 of them get off the island only to return at one point kind of killed it for the ending.

The anime of Trinity Blade is another terrible ending.  I never read the manga and the anime was basically just something I would kind of watch while being on my computer and waiting for Bleach to come on.  After I saw it I was rather glad I didn't get into it because the last episode made the series pointless to watch.

Ultima IX.
Crono Cross.
Final Fantasy IX (Holy ****, you want a Deus Ex Machina boss, THAT is a must play game).
Hell, pretty much every Final Fantasy game after 7 really (and 7's wasn't all that great, either).

Necron had some badass music though, but yeah despite IX being my favorite that boss battle was a complete WTF moment.

Chrono Cross
Final Fantasy Adventure
inFamous 2 may be on par, but that's my opinion

Nwn 2 had a horrible ending. MotB redeems it though.

I don't know, maybe LOST?

Lol, it's funny because the co-writer of Lost made fun of Mass Effect 3 on twitter.

Do you have a link to that by any chance?
I actually thought LOST's ending was decent while ME3 was ruined by the starchild.

Final Fantasy VIII's ending was spectacular...ly ****ty.

I ended that thinking, "so THAT is what it's like to be in Keith Richard's head after a bad acid trip."

Hell, it even came with it's own "insane fan theory", too.

Most horror movies have awful endings so I'll go with that.

I'm surprised Newhart ending hasn't come up yet.

It has now.

Well, I read a book series a few years ago called "Cirque du Freak" that ended god awfully. Basically, to make his own life better, he undid everything. AFTER 12 BOOKS IT'S ALL UNDONE!

I still gotta go with KotOR 2. NWN2 was pretty awful as well.

That's what I was going to say, though IMO more NWN2 than KotOR2. I didn't think anything could be worse than the "rocks fall, everyone dies" ending until ME3. Did Hudson or Walters have a hand in that crap?

My vote would be for the original ending for Fallout 3, before they CHANGED it. Seriously you have a radiation-proof mutant and someone in radiation-proof armour but YOU have to sacrifice yourself. I know it's been overshadowed by the ME3 ending controversy, but Bethseda took a hell of a lot of hits for that one.

Yep both of those were terrible. Made doubly bad by both games completely ignoring your romantic choices for a forced romantic encounter before the bad endings. NW2 also suffered from a really stupid Act 2 ending.

Deus Ex:HR had exactly the same bad ending as ME3, done worse.

And don't get me started on games that were so bad I couldn't even get to the bad ending.

And charged people for the Broken Steel DLC at that.

Smash Bros's "stroy" is irrelevant. The whole point is to have some of gaming's most iconic figures beat the hell out of each other with lightsabers beam swords.

To be fair Broken Steel did more than change the ending. It gave us new missions, weapons, and a new level cap.
