When people say 'ME3 ending', do they mean pre or post-EC? Personally I wouldn't rate post-EC Destroy as a bad ending at all, let alone in any kind of bad ending hall off fame.

Pre-EC Synthesis, though....

As for horrible terribad endings though, there's plenty. Neverwinter Nights 2's 'rocks fall everyone dies' ending comes to mind, as is the nonsensical abomination of KOTOR 2's, but in my mind there is one bad ending to rule them all, and in the epic failness, crap on them, and its Pariah.

OMG, that ending sucked donkey balls on a biblical scale.

'Yep, you were a traitor, so commit suicide and then everything explodes'.

I can't say DE:HR was worse because it was DE, and that type of ending was expected, so you know it wasn't worse. So not worse than ME3.

Fallout 3? I didn't sacrifice on my first playthrough. I failed. I left the memorial with Butch. Eventually the ecosystem would clean up. My middle finger. Yes that sucked, but you did see it coming. Then due to fan outrage they did Broken Steel. Thank you. So not worse the ME3

So worse than ME3.... none that I have played... yet. I didn't see the ending to ME3 coming. It just was like WTF? Then the EC added a saccharine coating, and a choice not to use the crucible, and BW middle finger (shooting the child) for making them do the EC in the first place.

It's sad when a game a low rated as Call of Juarez: The Cartel had a better ending.

Well......

1. Shadow Hearts 2---the "good" ending was the beginning of Shadow Hearts 1.

2. WildARMs 4---the whole theme of the game was "growing up" and understanding one another. They spend the last 1/3 of game pounding that message into your head . So you kinda expect our heroes to follow through with that idea, especially the main character since he's been preaching that message from the get-go. And did I mention, that half way through the game you find out that one of your party members is dying from an uncurable condition. But hey, they swore to eventually find a cure for her, even though they spent zero % game actually trying to do so. But don't worry everything will be okay, right?

Nope.<_<

3. Eternal Sonata--the main character was also the final boss, after the fight it then turns into a 20+ minute anti-suicide PSA done by the main characters.

Push one of three buttons and watch three videos that were largely the same? At least ME3 didn't let you save right at the buttons and forced you to replay a little bit to see every ending.

It was a fine game but the ending was barely one.

FOUR buttons, there was four buttons.
And I liked them because they were ambigious but done well. It also helps that the Deus Ex games are usually stand alone titles. ME3 didn't do this well at all.

1) The Sopranos
2) Threats by Amelia Gray - read it, and then go complain to the author about how the whole thing is barely comprehensible.

Now go away.

Like the title says. My answer is none. But seriously if there is one pleas tell me

nothing comes close. most bad endings i can think of are for single games. me3's ending was such a mess because it not only screwed up me3, but it also messed up me1 & 2 as well.

In terms of destructiveness to it's own lore and world? None.

In terms of sheer stupidity and terribleness? Dragon's Dogma.

Ultima IX's ending ruined NINE games.

There's worse. There's a LOT worse. Then again, acknowledging that would ruin the entire bitterness talking point.

Human Revolution's endings were well done, I liked the music especially. Their shortcoming was the fact that to quote a certain reviewer, it had an "Endotron 3000" a lá Mass Effect 3, in that the ending choices are presented to the player and they simply pick one.

The first Deus Ex might have had a similar premise, but at least you had to work for the ending you chose. Each ending required the player to complete a different set of tasks, which gave a far greater sense of accomplishment and conviction that simply "pick a button/colour".

Fable 3

Meh, I enjoyed ME3, flaws and all, 'til the ending. That's what made it really disappointing.

Fable 3 was mince through and through. (Though, it was bad even by it's standards and made me angrier than any game has. ME3 beats it for lasting impression.)

Silent Hill Homecoming might have been on par for me if I'd played those games in order. You get a tacked on, 30s cutscene for an ending, which in mine made the whole game a dream. I was annoyed. Then I played Silent Hill 2. THAT'S how you end a game!

MGS2 by far.Hell even Kojima admited he made a mistake and why he went out of his way to at least explain what the hell happen at the end of MGS2 in MGS4, but still to this day does that ending make sense.

Hard to say... After finishing ME3 I felt like someone stabbed my stomach. Never had that feeling after finishing any other game so for now I can't come up with any game that had worse ending.

I didn't have a problem with that because Mass Effect was always advertised as, "your decisions drastically affect the outcome!" but Deus Ex HR was never really marketed that way. It was just a great shooter RPG.

I think it depends on many factors. For example, if a bad game in a mediocre series has a terrible endings, would it really surprise anyone? Even if an otherwise great game ended terribly, it would probably be subjected to ridicule but it wouldn't do much damage to the product. The ME3 ending is not only incredibly poor, it single-handedly managed to ruin two amazing games that came before it. In destroyed it's own universe. disregarded lore and just did too much damage. Nothing can be even remotely compared to the havok it caused. Nothing will ever come close.
