I've read just all about the endings suggested and I don't think a single one of those is worse than ME3EC.

Assasin's Creed just has cliffhangers that lead to the next game. That doesn't necessarily make them bad.

The AC2 ending is the only one where both me and the protaganist went "WTF??" at exactly the same time. Which was the only thing that saved it from being bad. They knew exactly how rediculous it was and poked fun at it before I could.

Homefront had a bad ending, but not as bad as ME3

I've not seen an ending more disappointing, and there's not really any game ending I like less.

Even if another ending is technically worse, in my experience, there's cause to check out long before you ever get to it.

Umm... Only if you pick Darkside, which is just stupid IMO... If you pick light side it sets the way for the highly suspected 3rd game, the Darkside ending let's you play the DLC's It worked like that in the first game as well.

Well, off the top of my head there's the ending of funny games, the movie revolver, eraserhead, superman 64, battletoads for all the work it took to get to the ending, a series of unfortunate events, the devil inside, basically a lot of things did a much worse ending than mass effect 3.

The problem isn't that the endings were bad, it's that they did not meet the fans expectations, which is a lot harder to come back from.

Yeah that's definitely worse than the original ME3 ending.
The movie itself along with that ending made me want to blow my brains out,

True it did. It also had a bad plot. It still wasn't as bad as ME3's ending. The plot of North Korea invading the United States made no sense. But the ending made sense. It didn't end with your squad being hit by NK artillery and you meeting some translucent child  in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge offering you a choice of three colors:

1) Red: destroy the North Korean army all around the globe, but there will be big explosions as you wipe out what is left of the global infrastructure.*
2) Blue: control the North Korean army around the globe but you die and lose everything you have.
3) Green: make everyone in the world part North Korean, and the North Koreans part everyone else so that everyone will live in harmony and the NK army (now also part everyone else) will help rebuild everything they destroyed, but you die.

*if you scored high enough in each chapter you will take a breath buried under a pile of rubble as the game cuts to credits.

Well, I loved KOTOR so much that my Revans were male and female in each class. Multiple times too.

Same with the Exile although after my first playthrough I always just quit when the Ebon Hawk crashed on Malacor V. I can't even do that with ME3 and quitting after Marauder Shields boss fight. I can deal with KOTOR II before ME3 again.


EDIT: And when I saw Revan in TOR, I thought "Wow this guy had to be strong in the force because he was no physical match for Malik. Nor I doubt he could win a physical battle against Pee-Wee Herman." They made Revan look like too weak.

Invade-A-Load, the ripoff space invaders that you could play while a C64 game loaded. I always got a really high score, then suddenly the main game would load and poof there went all my progress. Very disappointing ending.

As an ending for a story, Battlestar Galactica has to have come close, although to be fair it went with an interpretation of the series that was present throughout, just not one that most fans wanted. Also because it was a tv series and not a game my reaction was different, but I do remember looking blankly at the screen and just kind going "What the ****?!" after that finale aired.
