Final Fantasy 7

lol you must have a death wish.

It ends as abruptly as ME3 pre-EC.

I thought the planet decided humans were too much trouble and killed them all until Advent Children. It was very disappointing.

I don't understand people who say that KOTOR 2 ending was worse than ME3. Yeah, it was pure cliffhanger with cut content but it had closure - you defeated your enemies, Kreya told you fates of all your teammates and your future.

Most importantly, your choices mattered in the end - your decisions had an impact on the fate of whole worlds.

Hannah Montana the Movie was pretty bad, I was severely disappointed in it.
They went all Hollywood instead of sticking to what makes the show good.

Did they get rid of the laugh track? can't imagine a Disney show without one, how else will you know when someone tells a joke?

I am sure there are plenty of endings which may be worse or just as bad (although I have a hard time coming up with examples right now, maybe KotOR 2). The thing is, usually I don't care. I just go "alright, that was a bad ending, stupid fame, let's move on." Mass Effect however really deserved a great ending, an inspired culmination of the incredible story we got before. It didn't, quite the contrary and this is a real shame.
So may not be the worst ending but it is the worst one I really care about.

I'll just go on and say I enjoyed the ending

But i can understand how people feel

Because I felt the same when I saw Star Trek '09

That whole thing was unbearably abismal.

Bioshock's ending was absolutely hidious. People say ME3 ignored your choices (they are wrong) but Bioshock took your choices regarding the Little Sisters completely out of context and made you either a kindly angel or a cartoonish super-villain. It doesn't help the last level was a load of crap and unlike Priority: Earth didn't have any moments of genuinely well done drama to balance out the tedious gunfights.

Army of Two: The 40th Day.

At the end of the game, the main villain makes Salem and Rios kill each other or else the whole world dies. Or some crap like that.

It did not matter on that. The entire ending was out in left field like ME3. At the end, being told what my people have done, was a cheap cop out, instead of showing it, or doing something more meaningful. Finally how the game ended even with the added content felt like nothing really did change. It might of made more sense if there was a KoRToR III but that will never happen.

What are you talking about?

My enemies are defeated/controlled/transformed, the fate of the krogan, the quarian, and the geth is dependent upon my earlier actions, all the smaller choices happened and matter as much as they ever did..... ME3's got as much of that as KotOR 2 ; far more, actually.

But KotOR2 had enough of that stuff to work. The problem with KotOR2's ending is that I have no idea what my character's trying to do, or why, or why all these random things are happening around him.

Hell, pretty much every Final Fantasy game after 7 really (and 7's wasn't all that great, either).

A lot of "modern" FFs have some incoherent endings, not always bad, but they don't make much sense. FF12s ending I remember as mostly straightforward though

Super Mario Bros. 3

If you didn't hurry your ass through the door, the game would just freeze on a "pause" screen and you'd have to shut it off. No save file, no do-over, nothing. Your game was over and you didn't get to see the end. Clearly, player agency was not in their interests as developers.

Imagine if gamers were that whiny and entitled back then. Would Nintendo send everybody free copies of a fixed game? We forgot our roots in this age of indulgence where everything is about us and only us.

As PAYING customers that is how its supposed to be.

They're defeated not by you, Reapers would've overwhelmed all your forces but thanks to Deus ex machina you "won". Try Rejecting Catalyst and see how you "defeat" Reapers.
Control is what one of your main antagonists wanted.
Synthesis is what Saren, again one of the main antagonists wanted, if choose that, what's the point of ME1?

How was your choice with rachni? Does it matter? With Collector Base? I'm not even talking about smaller decisions.

XI didn't have any Deus Ex Machina bosses from what I saw.  I never got too far into the chains expansion story or the ones after it (you can thank SE for making some of those missions so freaken hard and adding a level cap) but the main vannila story, your countries story, and the zilart story all had bosses that made sense and were no way DEM, at least to me.

I remember that Halo 2's ending was laughably terrible.

That was used to bridge the games, though. It didn't end the series.

Um.....DMC2 maybe? Then again absolutely everything, and i mean EVERYTHING, about that game was bad....uh....Gears 3 was pretty lame....

Honest to god, i can't name one. I mean sure Vanquish's ending was pretty terrible thematically, but if you played that for the plot you're insane.

When people say 'ME3 ending', do they mean pre or post-EC? Personally I wouldn't rate post-EC Destroy as a bad ending at all, let alone in any kind of bad ending hall off fame.

Pre-EC Synthesis, though....

As for horrible terribad endings though, there's plenty. Neverwinter Nights 2's 'rocks fall everyone dies' ending comes to mind, as is the nonsensical abomination of KOTOR 2's, but in my mind there is one bad ending to rule them all, and in the epic failness, crap on them, and its Pariah.

OMG, that ending sucked donkey balls on a biblical scale.

'Yep, you were a traitor, so commit suicide and then everything explodes'.

I remember this as being an attempt to get Hollywood writers in to do the script. What we got was a fun, generic game with an incomprehensible story which sucked the life out of the game and as said an ending which just made you go WTF ?
