I don't know why people are saying games that ended on cliffhangers. They have sequels to warp things up.
What endings were worse then me3 ending

After seeing Spoony's Ultima Retrospective, I'd have to say that Ultima 9 is worse than ME3's ending without a doubt. Even though I never played any of the Ultima games and was totally invested in Mass Effect, the sheer amount of idiocy and betrayal that Ultima 9 has in it when you look at the rest of the series truly makes it one of the worst games EVER.
And it was published by EA. So, you know, it was already a failure from that fact alone.

Final Fantasy 13-2 rivals the pre extended me3 endings release and it is even more painful because of the n7 armour they get U_u
You have to admire the audacity though.
"Yep, this ending is bad. But maybe if you do all the extra content and buy the DLC it'll get better!"
*do all the extra content/DLC*
"Nope it's still bad! Trolololo."
Trust me made me want to burn the final fantasy 13-2 disc in the trash
Really? I thought it was intriguing. Very Empire Strikes Back Everything is ****ed feeling. Very interested to see what FF13-3's beginning does.

The Extended Cut- Remember when the players complained about the lack of choice, and asked for a better ending, and were even willing to pay for a DLC of it? How about we just slap them in the face instead?
Fallout 3- Oh wait, they fixed their crappy ending
Halo 2- That ending pissed a lot of people off, including me, but the sheer awesomeness of the multiplayer diminished this, as did the fact that it wasn't marketed as the last game in the series.
Battlestar Galactca- Well actually no, it wasn't as dissapointing as ME3, not as good as we wanted it, but not so horrible as it could have been.

If Final Fantasy 7 had come out in the post-Facebook internet age with the ending it had, the ME3 ****storm would have seemed small. Definitely the worst video game ending I've played.
A lot of games I played too young to realize how terrible the ending was. KOTOR II for example, I just sort of went, "That was it? Damn, cliffhanger. Oh well, what a great game."
Chrono Cross's ending was rushed but I don't find it particularly bad.

No ending has disappointed and angered me as much as ME3's. So in that, ME3 has no equal

I agree with this - for me, though, it isn't so much that it's the worst game ending in the history of games, that isn't the case. It's that it was such a bad ending to what I've considered a beloved franchise

id Software's Rage
I loved the gameplay and the gameworld Carmack and crew created, until the end. The ending is an elevator ride to a room where you endure a horde wave for a minute or so, and then you press a button. Yes, the end boss is a button.
Cue short outro cinematic. The end.
It was at this time that I also noticed I had completed the game in under 8 hours, and I did all of the side quests.
Cue shouting at monitor with 'WTF?' and 'That's it?'. So much wasted potential.

There's a really big difference between "worst ending" and "most disappointing ending". Borderlands, for example, had a worse ending than ME3 in my opinion, but it was nowhere near as disappointing as ME3's because story was never one of Borderlands' selling points. The entire point of story in that game was to provide an excuse to shoot a bunch of things. Plus, the DLCs for that game had much better endings, especially Secret Armory.
ME3's, however, is definitely the most disappointing ending in a long time because of how high people's expectations were. You can't have high disappointment without high expectations.
