Regarding the problem of a "realistic" battle armor, I would like to say that Sci-Fi doesn't need to be "realistic" at all, the genre simply need to work inside its estabilished lore and to look gorgeous while doing it.

The "sacrifice everything in the name of realism" mentality generated from movies like the new Nolan reboots is actually killing one of the beautiful, more colorful sides of the genre... I don't think that while they were designing the Star Trek Original Series' suits they were thinking about realism, they just wanted something functional for the story yet cool to look at.

I'm not saying sacrifice everything in the name of realism.  If I wanted that I would have to say no faster than light travel because according to our understanding of the universe this is impossible.  I'm simply saying that armor should be unisex.  There would be and should be no difference between males and females.  Armor looking cool and being realistic aren't mutually exclusive.  I for the most part find Halo's armor to be mostly realistic, but it still looks cool.

Her slot isn't wasted.

Joker puts it to good use if you encourage him.

Unfortunately for Joker, the most he got from EDI is a good luck kiss before the assault on London. Doesn't matter for my playthroughs, since I discouraged the relationship.

I thought EDI was a creative addition to the squad, like Legion.

I liked EDI as a character. I enjoyed her dialogue and character development.

The character model however could have used a little less sex bot.

Not all of us hate EDI. Personally, I liked her character in me2 and 3. The thing I just loathe about me3 EDI is the way she was presented, ie, the body. You do make some valid points, but take into consideration what Bioware did to Ashley, or the mere presence of Allers/chobat. It's pretty obvious that EDI's new body design (massive breasts, ******, high heels) was made to be oversexualized, just like what they did with Ashley. I have no problems with EDI gaining a body, but they should have done something more like the metropolis picture. A clearly female, but not oversexualized body.

Side note: I havn't compared breast sizes on Liara and EDI, but Liara wears clothes over hers. EDI's are just hanging out there.

I don't care that much but I can see what people who are saying she's over sexualized are talking about. The art might actualy have looked better if it wasn't quite so extreme.
Also when I choose a costume for her she only seems to wear it on missions, unless I remember incorrectly, didn't pay that much attention, it's a robot after all imo... But she strips off for Joker?

Tbh I havn't paid that much attention to what people are wearing or their looks, I've mostly been playing for the story. The EC made the endings better and even the starbrat dialogue since, well, shepard got improved in that dialogue aswell. In all of that EDI's apperance realy faded, especialy once I got the the original ending with a shepard that was acting strangely.
After I got to the first ending I couldn't care less about EDI's looks, though thinking back to prior to the ending, I think I was accepting EDI's looks mostly because the "body" is made out of metal and plastic... Maybe it's just me but it does take away some of the sex appeal imo, maybe it even helps balance the oversexualized design.
She could wear cloting like the rest of the crew when she's on the ship though, not sure why her outfits are mission only.

I want to see every Atlus with a 2ft crotch cannon, that shoots acid... In the spirit of balance, so nobody feels left out.

EDI's body is a Sexbot, what better infiltrating method is better than sex.

I enjoyed EDI's character development, what I didn't like was the perma Cerberus brand on her chest, wanted to give her a broach or a deputy badge to cover it up or put a hole through it.

BioWare's EDI design is not oversexualized because they ripped it off from Metropolis? And we are just too ignorant to appreciate that?

I like having EDI as a squadmate. I don't care that she took someone's spot. I mean alot of the ME2 characters took ME1 character spots. People need to get over it. She's not overly sexual compared to the rest of the game. The body was taken from what was a Cerberus infiltrator android.

You wanna talk overly sexual what about all the love scenes everyone is into what about the giggly quarian bum bum thread in fan creations or the one for the asari which happen to be nothing but a race of blue supermodels and strippers.

Get over yourselves people

EDI's inclusion as a squadmate was pure fan service, so she has her supporters for sure. I was a little dissapointed to see her duplicitous potential sqandered in favour of making her a sexy robot with huge boobs and ******, but then I played the previous game!

She would have been pure fanservice if:

A) People actually found her robot body sexy (no one did)

B) Her dialogue had any sexual connotations at all.

She had plenty of potential as a squad mate, seeing as she provided tech support, exposition, a logical perspective during missions, as well as moments of drama such as her questions about human behaviour, her relationship with Joker or her brief (yet touching) interaction with David Archer.

I didn't use her as a Squad mate only because I preferred others, but I did enjoy talking to her and seeing her character develop. As for being overly sexed up, after the storm over Seven of Nine being sexed up in Star Trek, I tend to ignore those things. The narrative for the character wasn't overly sexed up, that's what mattered to me.

There are many things I disliked about ME3, but EDI wasnt one of them.

Well, we can certainly tell the value of this opinion.  Anyone that doesn't agree with you obviously only played ME 3?

I don't hate EDI, but I do feel that including her in the squad was... uninspired. The robot member of the crew has been done to death before in many different franchises, and I'd hoped that Bioware would do something more original with the character than giving her a body. If anything, I'd have liked to see them try to bridge the gap between EDI's non-physical plane of existence and Joker's physical one by going in the opposite direction to what we expected, instead of giving her a body giving him a way to interact with her in her digital realm.

In short, EDI didn't need to be on the squad, and could have been so much more effective. But then again there are so many instances where the game could have taken original, powerful new directions, but instead they took the overused, easy options instead.

I like EDI, the body doesn't define her.

People have been happy to ignore genetically perfect characters and growing assets across the board for 2 games now. Suddenly EDI is oversexualisation.

Ok, this is a nit pick, but i think Helfer did a better job with her in ME2. The body is just there for fanservice.

EDI is awesome. A fun and interesting story dynamic to explore. I don't have a problem with her "over-sexualized" body anymore than Miranda's, Ash's, Tali's, Samara's, etc... If that's the key problem, you should pretty much hate every character in the ME universe...maybe they should have made EDI more like Jacob (snores...)
