So on my current play through through as a female human noble I want to be able to marry him and rule with him as well as have her still be his queen when I import to awakening and dragon age 2.  I have looked up what to do but I just wan to make sure I fully understand it.  In order to stay married to alistair I need him hardened, at 100% approval, high enough coercion, and make sure not to accept Riordans proposal to let Loghain into the wardens?  If I do all that will I get the choice to marry him and stay with him without Anora coming into it?  Also when it comes time for morgans ritual am I going to have to convince him to sleep with her or do anything different since we will be together?

What you say is correct. Harden Alistair (although I've been able to do it without hardening him), either have Alistair fight the duel or you fight, but make sure you DON'T spare Loghain, and accept Morrigan's offer. Anora will make noises about it, but at that point there's nothing she can do. Yes, you'll still have to convince him to do the ritual.

I may be wrong, but I think if Alistair fights the duel he makes himself king and the Warden doesn't get to choose "I'll rule beside him." Best to fight the duel yourself.

It seems to only happen if you're not a noble. At least in my experience.

If you are playing the game unmodded, then you must be a female noble. This is what the strategy guide says about marrying Alistair:

Alistair rules with a human noble female PC: Easiest to do if Alistair has been changed (hardened) and is in a relationship with you. If you let Loghain live, Alistair will not marry you - and he will leave the party. If Alistair is changed and killed Loghain, and not in an active romance with a human noble female player, and not willing to marry Anora (you convinced him to marry her and she didn't betray you at the Landsmeet), then Alistair will assume the throne and the subject of marriage will never come up.

If Alistair is changed: If Alistair has a hostile approval rating, Alistair will not marry you but will rule alone. If Alistair is neutral or interested in you, he will require a very high Persuade check to rule with you. If Alistair is warm or cares about you, he will require a medium Persuade check, depending on the tactic you will take. If Alistair is friendly or in love with you, he will require a low Persuade check.

If Alistair is not changed: If Alistair has a hostile approval rating, Alistair will not marry you but will rule alone. If Alistair is neutral or interested in you, he will require a very high Persuade check to rule with you. If Alistair is warm or cares about you, he will require a high Persuade check, depending on the tactic you will take. If Alistair is friendly or in love with you, he will require a medium Persuade check.

If you play the game modded, there are mods out there that allow Alistair to marry mages, elves and males. Needless to say, it was a kick to hear Alistair introduce my rough-and-tumble, macho, dual-wielding, backstabbing male noble rogue to Ferelden as 'your new queen.' Posted Image

Hope this helps! :)

Likewise! Be it Dragon Age or Mass Effect, I always make sure to max out my Persuade/Operational Mastery as soon as possible. It's amazing how easy some quests become. Hey, why strong-arm someone into doing something when you only have to put on the charm, right? Posted Image

This is wrong.  The strategy guide fails.  Here is how it goes for a human noble female:

If Alistair is in love -- he will auto accept the warden ruling beside him if she chooses this option.  It doesn't matter her persuade.  However, he must be in love, and not only at adore (IOW, his personal quest must be finished).

If Alistair fights the duel -- if he is hardened, he will automatically accept the kingship unless he's in love.  If he's in love, then the warden is given the opportunity to choose.  If Alistair is not hardened, the warden will get the opportunity to choose as well whether or not his approval status (though he may not always accept).

If Alistair and the warden are hostile.  If he is not changed, he will not marry the warden no matter what.  If he is hardened, he will marry her if her persuade is high enough.

If Alistair is neutral or higher, it all depends on the persuade level of the warden.  If he's hardened, it's a bit easier than if he's unhardened.

This isn't quite correct either. The opportunity to choose, in this case, will only happen if the warden is HNF. I tried it with my mage who had a hardened Alistair at 100% love and at the end of the duel, Alistair accepted being king without the opportunity for the warden to choose.

Oh, I thought I was clear that we were talking about a human noble female -- I had that at the very top of my post was this was how it worked for a human noble female.  Since this is the only warden that Alistair will marry, there's no reason for the choice to come up for any other warden.

I so need to turn this into a pretty flowchart...
