Umm, no they don't.... like, at all. 

- Ashley is only available as a romance option for 2 of the 3 games (being taken out of the equation in ME2)

- Liara was only available as a LI in ME2 through a paid DLC, which actually doesn't register from an imported ME2 save due to a ME3 bug that BW refuses to correct (only way to correct it is to personally mod the specific flags using Gibbed), meaning that in the end, yes, even Liara is limited to being a love interest for 2 out of the 3 games.

Miranda is simply a better character than most. Personal feeling aside she shows far more potential than anything that comes from most characters mouths.

Given the western propensity for bull**** about these things I'm not shocked people were shocked when she became such an overbearing presence.

From an objective standpoint, I'd say Liara is the canon LI. She helped Shepard siphon through the Prothean Beacon and such nonsense, she saved Shepard's body and gave it to Cerberus, and she found the plans for the Crucible. She's had more of an impact on Shepard's life and has had more relevancy to the story/plot than any other LI.

Again, objective. I'm a Talimancer myself, but I honestly think that if there were to be a canon LI, it'd be Liara.

There is no canon LI, isn't that the whole point? I guess you could say it's Ashley in ME1 & ME3 and Miranda in ME2 because their sex scenes are in the launch trailers, but those trailers are just for advertising purposes, not reflecting any kind of canon.

Also, if you start a new game in 2 or 3, it doesn't set a default love interest. So that puts paid to that.

If Tali were romanceable by femsheps I'd agree with OP, but alas it has to be Liara. Liara's in all 3 games, likes males and females, can reproduce with either. She's the whole deck.
