Await IFF installation and wiki?

Mass Effect Wiki says I don't have to wait for the IFF installation. It says I can just go straight to the Omega 4 Relay and activate it. However, when I go to the Omega 4 Relay, EDI mentions that we can't.

Is the Wiki wrong?

EDIT: Am I forced to do something here?

I think there's a certain point in game progress that affects that. If you look at your savegame with Gibbed Save Editor, it has a counter for missions after acquiring the IFF. I believe you have to complete a certain amount of assignments after getting the IFF for it to become usable.

Just make sure you leave a few unsolved ones, because I seem to remember a time during my friend's playthrough where he had nothing else to do but the main mission, no side quests.......and the game wouldn't let him progress further.

As for the wiki, unfortunately it's only edited by other players, not Bioware employees (the best possible source of info). So players often get it wrong and they don't know everything, despite after multiple playthroughs. Wouldn't believe everything you read on that theng.

Well, here's my experiences:

- First time I played I made ALL the possbile missions in ME2 minus the not free DLC. Legion loyality mission checked, then I go to the Galaxy Map then EDI says use the shuttle for the next mission. Then I "WTF? What mission?"
- My long run replays tells me, if you go for the derelict Reaper then pick the IFF you got time for one loyality mission, no more, no less. Of course you can go anywhere, but your crew wil die. :(

Also, the Wiki can't tell how long the IFF activates. It's totally random.

apparently once you have the IFF you have 1 more mission/assignment. But only 1, any more results in the loss of crewmembers (not squadmates).
