Cortez is no Liara.

You're correct. He is more than Liara will ever be.

As for the rest of your post, there's no accounting for taste.
1. I didn't like Gavin Archer.
2. I didn't like Liara.
3. I didn't like Kenson.
4. I do like Steve.
That's one out of four.

Besides, you're basically just judging him since he only shows up in one game. Just give him time.

DLC is real simple: just feature any of the major characters from any of the games.  That's why Lair of the Shadow Broker is everyone's favorite DLC -- it's because it features Liara.

Actually my favorite DLC is Undead Nightmare
Oh wait wrong franchise

My favorite Mass Effect DLC is the Firewalker, That Hammerhead is fun to play with, Overlord is just as good too

You don't mean that...

...or do you?

Ok it's story sucked I'll admit, but the thing was really fun to drive which is why that and Overlord ranks high

jeez. can we take liara, steve, vega with us down into the depths without breathing aparatus?

feed em to the leviathan? then they'll finally have some purpose within the story.

I'd rather have one of the members of my squad be the talker. Oh well.....

Steve is actually liked by the way. But most people do want more dialouge with others more

Yeah, Steve was one of my (MANY) Bros in ME3. My favorite of the new characters for ME3.

Even then, it sort of makes sense. If they want the DLC to be acessable at any point in the story, they need to choose a character who is going to be there no matter what. Makes it easier on the writing. Would be fun to hear different characters tell the same story though. Insight and all.

Anyways, Garrus is picked up on Palavan, EDI isn't a Squaddie til somewhere during the Genophage Arc, Kaidan/Ashley doesn't appear til post-Cerberus Coup, and Tali isn't a squaddie til post-Rannoch (Though, you can outright kill her there). Also, Javik is DLC.

Which leaves us with Liara and Vega as Squaddies; Neither of which I'd be taking on this mission in the first place let alone would I be interesting in Liara playing Miss Exposition even more so.

Which then leaves us with Steve, Samantha, Joker, and Adams. Adams and Joker don't seem likely to leave the ship any time soon, Samantha isn't shown outside the ship once and I doubt she has any combat ability. Steve has been shown to be combat capable and also hosts the roll of Shuttle Pilot.

Its logical for him to be there for a great portion of the mission.

Because we need more of moany ol' Steve, right? NOT.

Seriously, this sort of DLC story is a good excuse to brush of an old squaddy or minor character from other games.

We get it. You don't like cortez. But what is your point with this thread?

It makes sense to have a "talker" as you call it, from a writing standpoint in a dlc that is coming out 5 months after original launch. Also, unlike all of me2's dlc, the squadmates actually say things. In addition, cortez's character (a mechanic and vehicle operator) does make some sense in the parts we've seen so far, so I dont really see what your point is with this thread besides to let out your cortez hate.

I predict that if people don't like it EA/Bioware will say its because hes Gay, not because hes the worst character in the mass effect universe, well apart from Ashley.

Ashley? Lol no.....she's a well written character, regardless if you like her or not......

Besides, you're forgetting Allers......she's the biggest suckiest waste of space ever

He cried once.....And it was in mourning of his husband's death. I don't see what the issue is here...

Why the hell would Cortez be the worst character in the series? There was nothing wrong with his character.

Besides, I'm absolutely sure that there are worse. Allers and the Catalyst just to name a few.

because in Mass Effect all male humans must not cry, just like all females cannot have different views and be independant, at the risk of being called whiny or racist. <_<

According to the video footage of the demo, the other squadmates were talking as well, something that didn't happen in the other dlc's.

Yea ok, maybe he cried once,  I don´t know how others play but after every mission (side or not) I go talk to the whole crew and Steve sure talked about his dead husband half the time. That´s what annoys me.

I like Ashley btw, and I don´t think she´s racist.
