Cortez is our 'talker' ala Liara/Kasumi/Archer/etc. but the other squaddies still have dialogue from what I've heard.

Besides, Cortez isn't a key player in this story in the way they were: he has his own story and possible romance in the vanilla game, but for this mission (like most missions) he's just our shuttle pilot.

It says Corterz five times in that article and it's only because he is the Pilot of the shuttle that is crashed on the boat. He also appears to be the only ally with Shepard

This is one little combat scene from the DLC.

It's actually not even different, just same old Cortez.
 
He's only there to pilot a shuttle that is stranded.

His shuttle went down in Priority Earth and he survived that. I'm sure he didn't crash and just squeel at the Reapers to go away then.

I don't see the issue here?

Shepard can be an engineer, and still use weapons.

Wait what mission are you talking about because you couldn't bring liara with you on overlord or are you talking about LOTSB 

He played some other game, apparantly.

You can bring squadmates, yes, but they don't say anything.  Particularly weird if you bring Tali and there's all this crazy Geth stuff going on, putting Geth technology into a human, and she doesn't have one word to say about the whole thing.  I never tried bringing Legion on Overlord, but he's probably equally mute.

Cortez is by no means my favourite character, but he is a decent guy and shows some character growth through the game; therefore, I'm no stranger to actually having him as the main NPC if needed.

I don't really like those solo missions. They seem to be designed to save money on voice actors and cinematics. Although this time it seems they were very creative about it.

I'm no fan of Cortez but i like him, he is a decent guy and a well-written character. I don't mind if he is the main talker tbh.

Javik is DLC himself. He can't be the talker, you would have to make a version of the DLC with completly different talker for people who don't have Javik
