I predict that if people don't like it EA/Bioware will say its because hes Gay, not because hes the worst character in the mass effect universe, well apart from Ashley.

In fact, I think it's a matter of opinion, to me the worst characters are Liara (from virginal nerd in 1, to crazy bully in 2, to weirdo in 3, the only consistent trait about her was her plot armor and her stalker behavior) and Tali (from great character in 1, to that thing she became right before a rocket exploted in her photoshoped face, lol). I like Steve, though, he always lives in my games.

Also my favourite DLC was Overlord, because of it's depth, not TLOSB, in fact I hated to leave thane behind just to have to put up with Liara again....

Interesting... if I may ask. Do you strive to get the ones you don't like to get killed ?

I have no 'serious' problem with any squadmembers, except for Kaidan, in my dozen playthrough it was only once that I saved him instead of Ash, then again, I don't want to get him killed in lets say the Cerberus Coup. I tend to keep my squad alive, whether I like them or not.

I don't know, but somehow Kaidan is my least favorite... I think he's a bit emo. No reason to kill him though, i would been a terrible Commander if I did, I even did not send him to the crucible, he was welcomed back on the Normandy.

End of Hijack. ;)

Why the hell would Cortez be the worst character in the series? There was nothing wrong with his character.

Besides, I'm absolutely sure that there are worse. Allers and the Catalyst just to name a few.

He is the worst written charcter in the game, well apart from Ashley.

he was OK, I was surprised how much I liked traynor though

I can hold a lot of stuff against bioware (and I do) but I personally cannot hold this against them, although I do understand why other people would be annoyed and would encourage them voice their displeasure

Cortez is the most useless (with Alllers) character from the entire trilogie! Even Kaidan or Jacob are more usefull than him!

Wow...Steve Cortez, the main interaction in the new DLC. Why didn't they chose the guy in the shuttle bay from ME1. At least he had cool guns and equipment for sale. Nah, we get the character introduced in the last game, who I interacted with maybe once or twice.

Lame....lame...lame

Why would Bioware do this?

As long as he's talking about something other than his dead husband. He seems like a decent guy, but all his conversations with Shepard - rather than his dialogue with Vega - after the initial one are a drag.

I read the Kotaku preview and watched the gameplay videos, but didn't see anything to indicate that the Leviathan DLC will focus on Steve the same way LotSB focused on Liara. It does look like he probably plays a part in moving the plot along, at least in the scenes we've previewed. Which makes sense as he's a) on the Normandy and not dead through the whole game and B) comes along on missions regardless of which teammates you pick.

Myself, I wouldn't mind seeing Cortez get more screen time; he's not ME3's most interesting character, but he was cool enough and had a few good lines. If you don't romance him he definitely fades into the background a bit after you finish his "sidequest", but along with James and Traynor, he's one of the few regular-soldier, not-so-special-snowflake characters who make a good balance to the rest of the crew.

Nope.

Arrival > LotSB
Overlord > LotSB
lolday1 From Ashes > LotSB

inb4 he crashes the shuttle again

I'm not everyone.
I sure hope there are OTHER reasons for a DLC to be good and / or popular than the mere presence of Blue Babe.

Cortez is no Liara.

On that we can agree.

He's OK, but he's not one of our beloved characters.  Even the least favorite "major" Mass Effect character like Jacob or Zaeed would be a FAR better choice as a featured character in DLC than Steve.

I actually fancy Cortez a LOT more than Jacob or Zaeed whom i shamelessly abandoned in some unfinished ME2 playthrough.

Don't assume your tastes are universal.
Don't assume that majority rules all the time.
Also, before complaining about speculations, try to be objective when you're assuming from just an article, a trailer and a demo vid that a DLC called "Leviathan" is Cortez centered. I did not come to the same conclusion although i read and watched the same elements as you did.

I didn't realize so many people disliked him.

I'm glad to see a character with a small role get more content, and I'd definitely rather have Steve help move the DLC's plot forward than have some new random NPC like Archer or Kenson.

Bioware should charge people £10 for not downloading the Steve DLC, they would make far more money.
