There are no seriously disgustingly overpowered weapons in the game anymore. The Piranha is gimped by range so that one is out of the picture IMO, even though it can out-DPS a perfectly reload cancelled Claymore (which has about 2-3 times the range). I'm not calling for buffs to common weapons... they are what you aspire to NOT use.
We have standard bearers for each and every weapon now.
Assault Rifles: Saber, PPR, Revenant and Harrier.
The Rare ARs need brought up just below the DPS figures of these weapons, you can even bring the Uncommon ones up a little bit too. Variety is needed here. The Tyhoon could use a buff too since it is outclassed by the PPR in weight, damage, accuracy, everything. The Mattock, Phaeston, Vindicator, Geth Pulse Rifle, Falcon and Stryker all could use a good 10-15% damage buff.... with the Geth Pulse Rifle needing about 20%.
Sniper Rifles: Indra
This group needs the most attention. If you aren't going to let them ignore shield gate b/c it's too hard to program, fine. At least make them hit like a mack truck so they can be dedicated boss killers on Infiltrators and usable on non-infiltrators. Incisor, Raptor, Widow, Kishock, Black Widow and even the much maligned Krysae could all use a 10-15% damage buff. I'm on the fence about calling for a Javelin buff... since it can be devastating on a GI. Also on the fence about a Valiant buff... it's good against mooks (even shielded mooks) but not so much against bosses.
SMGs: Hurricane
Obviously... the current group of SMGs cannot be brought to the DPS levels of the Hurricane, but I see no reason why they can't come close. As it is, they are only useful at applying ammo powers for setting up tech bursts/fire/cryo explosions. This group is even MORE in need of buffs than the others because they require you to be out of cover for extended periods of time to inflict damage (like the Typhoon and Particle Rifle). Geth Plasma SMG, Tempest, and Hornet could all use a good 10% damage buff... and the poor Locust could stand 15-20%.
Shotguns: Reegar, Claymore, Piranha, Geth Plasma Shotgun
Do I really need to go into this? I haven't seen another shotgun but these four except for the rare case of a high level Wraith... which could use a buff itself since the above four weapons outclass it and are rare weapons. Eviscerator, Discple and Scimitar could all use a good 10-15% damage buff, and the Graal could use 5-10% because of it's issues when used off host (although I admit the Graal is good, but the hosting issue is very problematic for alot of players.. I can't even remember the last time I saw a Graal in a lobby, it needs something to incentivize players to use it). Lastly.. and most importantly, the Crusader. Bioware... it's bad, like really really bad. Give it a big fat 15-20% damage buff to justify that weight... don't make it lighter, make it hit harder... same as the Sniper Rifle changes I asked for (since that's essentially what it is).
Pistols: They are all fine IMO... if anything I still think the Arc Pistol and the Eagle could use another small buff, maybe 5-10% damage. Phalanx is a decent sidearm, Carnifex is THEE go to caster weapon for many players, Acolyte is amazing on anything with Singularity/Pull, Talon/Scorpion/Paladin all have their niches and are extremely effective at what they do. This group of weapons has been balanced on a nearly flawless level IMO.
So I just named 16 weapons that are currently useable in the metagame, that I see frequently and/or use myself. I also just named 19 weapons that are rarely seen... and I should mention that I play this game A LOT... like A WHOLE LOT... as in... it's the only game I play pretty much. Buffing these weapons would bring tons of variety to the game, make alot of players very happy, not break the game AT ALL and might even bring back some of the lost player base... which could equate to more $$$ in Bioware/EA coffers.
Honestly... I'm not hearing the 'We need to extensively test these balance changes before we release them" argument because WE ARE YOUR BALANCE TESTERS! There are dozens of threads daily about weapon effectiveness, builds using said weapons, tactics to emply said weapons, videos showcasing the effectiveness of said weapons, etc. etc. etc. If something is overpowered, trust me YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT IT... just as you have been hearing for months on end that alot of these weapons are underpowered.
When the Krysae/Piranha were OP, BSN was swamped with daily threads about it... those threads have all but disappeared because nothing is currently too overpowered. So we have a half decent selection of weapons now, how about expanding that to a fabulous selection for your loyal gamers. Don't make us use weapons that don't hurt the enemies just for the sake of change... we are only hurting ourselves and the team when we do that. We love you, we love this game... please do this so we can have some more fun and variety. All it takes is changing a few numbers, maybe a couple hours of work if that. Please Bioware, pretty pretty please with a cherry on top.
In closing I will say this: Bioware... you made these weapons. You created them, designed them, programmed them, poured your hard hours of work into them. Don't you want to see them used? I don't want to see all that effort goto waste and I'm sure you don't either.
