Can someone explain how I was just carried?

It's a tough call. You were kinda carried. Doesn't really mean that geth player isn't a drooling moron, though.
I salute you, though, usually when I play Paladin I'm the one needing constant revives. I stick to my Batty Soldier, Destroyer, and Kroguard when I want to tank.

OP you played poorly in the match. TBH having 33k in a gold game is the result of you not doing enough, period. I don't blame anyone calling you out on it. Anyone telling you otherwise are bad players themselves and are just reinforcing bad playstyles. If you listen to them you will never get better and keeping making reassurance threads like this.
Just as score is not the end all be all of skill, having the 15 revive medal is not the end all be all that you were a good team player. Anyone can hide, do nothing, and get 15 revives and claim that they were helping the team.
The problem with this line of thought is that it if the guy getting 15 revives is instead dead 4 or 5 times or the guy doing all the objectives goes on the offense and does not make them a priority then you get a wipe, not team success. There is a fine line between getting 'enough' kill points and dying several times. If the player in question had 55-60 thousand but died 4 times, only rezed twice and ignored one or more objective rounds would the team be better off or not?
Even if you're that guy who gets stuck doing the objectives for all 3 rounds (and that's assuming you get the 4 point data upload/pizza objectives only) you have 7 or 8 other rounds to contribute to kills/assists.
I'm not saying play to get your points above a threshold just to not get called out for getting carried. My point is that if you play this game correctly (aggresively but not idiotically) you will end up with many points naturally without being a liability i.e. dying a lot. Sure you may still end up last but if you're always in the middle of the action other players can tell. Having a low score count is a clear indication that you're not doing enough.
Also, going into a match thinking "I'm going to just support everyone else, I don't need to get a high score nor am I going to try" is backwards thinking. Any support character can top the leaderboard, you just have to try. It makes the game go a lot faster and more fun. High score is just a byproduct.

I remember some friends of mine commented that I always "carry" them and my response was "No I didn't. We are a fracking team."

A person loses a LOT of kill points if they are doing objectives by themselves. You can essentially lose two waves worth of points if you are running around going the objectives while others go on their killing ways.
I really hate it when teammates completely ignore the objectives. They'll kill as many things as they can to run up the scoreboard but the whole time the clock is ticking. For people who think they are so smart they can tell someone to get lost for being carried, they are complete newbs to realize every second down means less money for everyone. Now, if you are an infiltrator, especially an N7 Shadow, you are expected to do the objective runs like deliveries just on principal, but yeah, there is no forgiveness for low scores. You are expected to eat, shoot, and @*L# all at the same time, even though the high score lazies seem to only shoot and die. And I'm guilty of it sometimes too if I get pinned down in a corner for not realizing the team decided to relocate. High score by accident. Also, avoid people yelling at you early for low score, like around wave 3. Some characters start out slow, like the N7 Shadow, but by the end of the game they'll be 1st or 2nd, usually because the early high score earner gets sync killed and has to lose his top post. Gotta love that irony.

If they could do away with the score board entirely, I be overjoyed. Why? It's the biggest cause of dissent, epeen wagging and wrong headed competitiveness in A CO-OP GAME. Seriously, all each member should care about is how they all WORKED TOGETHER in a co-op game and won. Not who has the highest score by getting the most kills.

Agreed, this. I feel worse when someone talks to me guilty for being carried than to hear a chew out for being carried. Some people are born trainers. Some love to be trained. The rest are just temporary distractions.

As others have said, 33k is a bit low for Gold. Although you do claim you were tanking Primes with your shield and debuffing Armor with Snap Freeze, which are pretty awesome things to do.

I'm glad to hear he got into a Gold game with a Paladin. I see them get kicked a lot. Kroguards are welcome, usually. Destroyers are too. Batarians are typically kicked, especially the ones with a Kishok (aka the roleplayers).
I don't know. I wish I could see the statistical data that Bioware keeps under lock & key. To see the stats for most kicked player, most deaths, most headshots, etc. would be much more rewarding than N7 ratings and experience scoreboards at the end of a match. But I'm sure that would embarrass or irritate a great many players, especially if the data is put on the profiles.

That being said, I understand how he came to his conclusion. He wasn't everywhere on the field. He couldn't see what was going on. And objective waves ARE only 3 waves out of 10.

A low score doesn't tell the whole story of a match, OP, so I can't say anything except that other the guy was rude.
Anyway, I played with many that scored +30k but were helping the team more than the +70k. Btw some people try to save their missile for wave 11 to score higher.

If you still don't feel confident to go rambo and kill a lot of stuff on Gold, staying alive, reviving teammates and helping in objectives is actually kinda helpful already.
Don't let these kind of insults bring you down. =D
Playing the GI, that guy didn't do more than expected from him... topping the scoreboard.

IDK why epople kick batarians. the Soldier is one of the best DDs in the game and the Sentinal is awesome for setting off explosions with shockwave and trapping phantoms in his net.

That being said... 33k is extremely low for a gold match, even as a support. Not only that, but you were also equipped with one of the best shotguns. As much benefit as I want to give OP, it does make me question some things. It sounds like you'd be better of running as a Salarian Engineer than a Pally.

Common sense can be hard to find on lobbies a lot of times.
So not long ago, I was in a lobby and we had a N7 800s with a Piranha II, Level I gear and no consumables, and a N7 120 with Harrier V, gear Level V and full consumables.
Guess who people voted to kick?! >__>

people who take the bets layouts and weapons into games then brag about score make me laugh. like a demolisher spamming grenades coming in 1st takes no skill. a shadown using SS on eveyrthing takes no skill. but they deal high damage and score alot.

The Arc Pistol's DPS is extremely dependent on firing rate. If you can't pull your trigger at 550 rpm (and at almost 10 clicks a second, I wonder whether that's even possible without some kind of mouse mod), you're not doing the advertised DPS. I don't think I can do more than 350 or 400 rpm on my best day, which would make the Arc Pistol inferior to a similarly-leveled Eagle for me. If you can do 550 rpm, then good for you - keep using your Arc Pistol.Stealthy Mantis wrote...
lots of people have said that i should loose the arc pistol but if i put the same mods on any of the other pistols i have, the arc has higher DPS, because of the low levels of my Carnifex and Paladin

Now if the map was, let's say, Glacier or White or Goddess, then you would have a harder time trying to justify a low scoring match.

Another person that doesn't understand the Arc's power....
Everyone thinks the only way to use or max out the Arc is to get the ridiculous spam trigger going. Nah, the secret to using the Arc is charge -> headshot. The reason why the Arc is versatile is because of the fire select, meaning you charge for long range engagements and spam for close range (all headshots of course since the Arc has perfect accuracy).

I think what he meant was that you have to be sure who you are targeting in a group. There have been a few times I was targeting a marauder just to have a brute step between us as I hit SS.
