Forced Multi-player. In other words you have use the multi-player to get a certain ending(s) and/or story-lines. Sorry, if I want a multi-player I would play WoW, GW2 or even Mortal Kombat. I don't want it in my single player RPG. If I want to play with others, I'll play WoW. But I also enjoy alone time when gaming.

I definitely won't purchase DA3 if it gets canceled.

Playable races are a big one for me, personally. And a very high-quality story :) Those would be needed for a pre-order, IMO.

I'll buy it any which way. I haven't been disappointed by a Bioware game yet, and no, I'm not a blind fan (the ending of DA2 was awful, along with the vanilla ME3 ending)

If it reminisce Origins (in which it won't).

I will likely not purchase the game until bargain bin prices if one of the buzzwords of their many press releases is "streamlining" and the phrase "appealing to non rpg players".

I'm not sure if there is anything that would be a surefire deal breaker, but the closest thing would be having multiplayer, added to the game.

I'll likely buy it regardless. I'm too invested in the lore. But it won't be a day one purchase if...

- DAII's events are basically shoved under a rug, much like how DA:O's were.
- There's a heavy emphasis on multiplayer.
- They expect me to preorder before a certain date again to get a special edition. If there's any more obvious "please give us your money before you know if it's any good" scheme, I don't know of it.

Multiplayer
Shallow story
Lots of auto dialogue
Limited locations

Sadly, I do love the lore and think they have some incredible writers. However, their current business model does not inspire any confidence for me and I will likely buy it used. BioWare no longer makes games I can't live without.

Many. Just to simplify things, nearly every single change they made from DA:O to DA2. Some may not be dealbreakers by themselves, but combined with others, they will be. For example, I can live with the friendship/rivalry thing, but one button instant win romances, auto-dialogue and voiced protagonist/paraphrashing combined make me completely uninterested in the dialogue. No more tactical camera I can live with, but getting rid of crafting skills and numerous playstyles and approaches to combat, I can't.

If it's anything like DA2, I'm not touching it.

I'll rather replay DA:O for the 30th time than buy something that doesn't do justice to the RPG games BW grew big on...
And then decided, screw the guys and girls we grew big on, let's get the CoD crowd in
(also missing the point that the CoD crowd will just play CoD and not a streamlined RPG).

I agree with a lot of the points in this thread.

Not being able to customize the player character,(Or a set, static character like Nico Bellic.) for sure. That'd be a definite no-no. I don't see this one happening, however. All of Bioware's modern games have had this feature. I see no reason to skip it this time.

I have a large group of people in my circle of gaming friends who are die-hard Bio-Drones. They'll defend Bioware to the death no matter what they do. Even they heavily criticized DA2. So if that repeats again.. You can bet I'll be a little more apprehensive about pre-ordering that Collector's Edition again.

Lastly - and I'm only joking a little with this one =P - If the player character is Orlesian and he/she has a heavy accent. I don't think I could listen to Gascard DuPuis for an entire game.

Honestly, I think Bioware has to knock it out of the park with DA3. After three shooting-themselves-in-the-foot incidents in a row (DA2 being the mess that it was, Old Republic being the most expensive game ever - and failing within six months, and ME3's whole ending tirade.) ..I really want something solid from them.

Then again, I suppose I'm just a jaded gamer at this point. We all are. Nothing ever lives up to our over-hyped expectations.

Do you have any dealbreakers when it comes to whether you will buy DA3 or not? For example, you won't buy DA3 if it has a silent/voiced protagonist or it does or does not have skills (such as stealing or coercion). I've only got two and they are multiple races and some way of knowing the lines the protagonist will say before choosing the dialogue.I am just curious since this is the first game from Bioware i have had such a list and i wonder if i am the only one having one.

-Forced PC race as it was in DA2. I don't play fantasy RPG to become a human
-forced side in conflict between Mages and Chantry ( PC have to be Templars fan)
-poor dialogue options with childish icons
-anime style of graphic
-multiplayer with impact on single player game as it was in ME3
-no support for mods

The real dealbreaker would be Multiplayer (especially forced MP) for me: a MP like NWN seems impossible to pull off with this tecnology and without a lot of resources devoted to it. A MP like ME3 would be boring as hell (for me anyway). A co-op campaign done right would require a lot of effort and would take a lot of resources from the main game. A co-op campaign done bad wouldn't have a reason to exist in the first place.

Other things that I wouldn't like to see:

- Autodialogue: I don't see it working in an RPG without a semi-set protagonist (and even then it needs to be done really well).

- 2 dialogue options: I understand if sometimes only 2 options are given, but it can't be the norm like in ME3.

- Fetch quests: I'm actually talking about stupidly received fetch quests. These type of quests are already quite boring at their best, but when you mix telepathic abilities or eavesdropping they become atrocious.

Only one thing.

No party.

More specifically, not having full control over party in combat.

Well I was  going to say I didn't have any deal breakers, but I suppose I'll have to go along with this one.

At any rate, I don't have any real deal breakers. I'll just buy it because I like the franchise. I'll also only look at some of the development stuff by the devs. I don't really want any kind of spoilers and would rather be surprised, pleasantly or otherwise, by any changes. After a certain point I'll likely abandon these forums and not return until after I've played it.

What exactly are you hoping for that would carry over from DAII?  That Hawke decided to side with the mages and had to flee Kirwall, or that Hawke decided to side with the Templars and had to flee Kirkwall?

- Forced charakter
- No gender choice
- Over the top combat animations to look "cool" ( hi DA II rogue)
- Marketing like DA II's, "when I press a button, something awesome has to happen" and so on you know
- Multiplayer only for the sake of  having multiplayer

There's one concern that hasn't been voiced yet, but it is important: Mage hats. Ugly mage hats aren't necessarily a deal breaker for me, but they are are a factor in considering purchasing it. A little time and attention spent on creating pretty hats might very well 'seal the deal'. It would definitely be an improvement.

Yeah, I would put this under the "irked" thread rather than "deal breaker".

Deal-breaker? Being unable to chose my PC's gender (I want to play a girl and if choosing your own gender gets cut you can bet it isn't the ones who want to play MaleProtagonist that will lose out).

These below aren't deal-breakers so much as they are things that will make me wait to get it.

Forced multiplayer (when it impacts the story like in ME3. I don't mind co-op but I hate multiplayer so I don't want to be forced to play it to get the best ending.)
Limited/repetitive settings (they seem to be working on this so I probably don't need to worry about this)
Paraphrasing (I like to know what I'm actually saying when I click on an option)

And don't forget bow strings. A game without them is unthinkable.
