It supports the no-canon Shepard arguement. The complete lack of evidence to support a canon-Shepard is the evidence. The only thing you can use to back up your claim that MaleShepard is canon is the promotional material - which is totally non-canonical considering according to promotional material, he romances Ashley and has her killed on Virmire. Thane dies in ME2 via the lack of a shield upgrade and yet is present for the Suicide Mission. Then in ME3, Shepard manages to romance a dead Ashley and blow up both the Quarians and the Geth.

For what it's worth, FemShep doesn't bother me (still think Hale isn't very good, though) and I don't think there's a true canon for gender, even though (and BioWare is working closely with Legendary on this) Shepard will be male in the film(s). I just love coming in these threads and watching the the FemShep contigent go ape and get bent out of shape over this topic.

I'll stop by the Miranda thread when I have a chance...

Actually it does nothing to counter Shepard's gender especially when the Male Shepard had a lot more focus in the ME same trilogy.  I'm a FemShep fan while I see nothing wrong with a canon Shepard.  Things like this is nothing new in RPGs, which is another reason why I don't mind.

Default Shepard had focus in marketing. Marketing has nothing, NOTHING to do with the game itself and it's canon.

Society can grow up? Men and women are different. It's a fact. Men are generally superior physically. Women are generally smarter(at least in my experience). I'm not sure why people see the need to protest this.

I have to disagree, male leads  go over better with male audiences, while female leads go over better with women.I believe BW could have handled FemSheps marketing better. She should have had her own trailer back in ME1, this would have gotten lots women to play the game. I would never play an RPG if I couldn't play as a woman.

So what? Generalities and averages are besides the point.
There are women that can and do fight. That can and have been war heroes.

That more men on average will be suited for this does not change the fact that a female lead for this sort of role is perfectly valid and the only reason people won't accept it is prejudice.

Bioware's audience is generally male.
