Heh, who needs Shadow Strike?

I do get a certain joy in beating a Shadow to her target.  Admittedly, she has a hard time competing with a good Shadow due to the shadow's mobility.  But she has an advantage in that even a maxed melee build can be very effective at sniping or CC.
...

With respect to sabotage's 50% boost.  Yeah, it was quite suprising the first time I took down a phantom in one swing.  Initially I thought a teammate was assisting, but then it became clear that there was some some hidden damage boost in the QFI's attack.

Yeah, in this link  tyhw notes that it is multiplicative at 1.5x, but that it isn't due to 'tech' melee damage since the Operative pack doesn't also boost it.

The best test now is to team up with some krogans, sabotage an atlas and see how long it takes the krogans to take it down.  I sense a Platinum strategy in the making.

Thanks for the link. Will check it out.
Didnt know the weapon melee mods are times by total damage.

and better include it too in your thread

I like it. I have something similar but I skipped stickies entirely. Not because I think they are bad but because I am bad with them. Also because I figured that the ability to pummel things does not need to be stocked up at ammo boxes. Fun thing I did a couple of weeks ago was after wearing down a Brute with a few bullets I gave him the cloak/sabotage/wallop treatment. Brute melee killed by dinky female Quarian. Priceless.

It's not clear what type it is, but there is definitely a 1.5x bonus if you sabotage the target first.

@himegoto:  the melee mod damage is already listed in my top post as a multipicative bonus.  Together, 1.25 x 1.5 becomes a 1.875x bonus total melee damage.

As far as sticky grenades go, it's their unreliability which drives me nuts, not their damage, radius, or capacity. I've literally had mobs walk over--not one, but two--sticky grenades with nary an explosion. The grenades just sit there, dormant, each one laughing at me. It makes me sad.

So much for the "sticky trap."

In MP, I find the sticky trap to be unreliable.  Three ranks is sufficient to stagger and damage an atlas, which is the main thing I use them for.  Occasionally I get lucky and wipe a tightly packed spawn with a cloaked sabotage/sticky cycle.

The "proximity" evolution for Sticky Grenades would be awesome if it worked right, but it doesn't always, and their explosion radius is not that good either, which limits its potential.  As far as I'm concerned, the Sticky is designed to do maximum damage to a single enemy.  I find them most useful on the shotgun Human Infiltrator.  If you throw a Sticky at an armored enemy, then rapidly cloak, fire Cryo Blast and start unloading with your Claymore/Piranha, the Sticky will go off under the Cloak damage bonus and will get the Cryo Blast debuff, doing a lot of damage.  One Sticky-Cloak-Cryo-Claymore cycle can do massive damage to a single armored target.  If only those Banshees weren't so damn skinny - they're really tough to hit with a Sticky.

Indeed, I usually use sticky grenades against armored targets (brutes, ravagers, atlases, etc) and they work very well for that role since those targets tend to be large and easy to tag.   With my QFI it's cloak, toss sticky, sabotage, and watch the pain.  Even on gold (as I'm typically geared up for these) this will usually drop or nearly drop a brute or ravager.  Throw in a Crusader shot or two and the whole business is over in seconds.

That said, I've also taken out upwards of four mooks with a single grenade more than a few times... when the stickies decide to detonate. If the proximity function just worked more reliability, they'd easily be my favorite grenade. Maybe the upcoming patch will help with this.

Relying on stickies and the crusader sounds like a recipe for sad times.  Both of them are literally hit or miss and are as likely to leave you in deep **** as they are to kill your enemies.  Having said that, I've come around quite a bit in the last month regarding the utility of stickies.  They're great for stopping an Atlas in its tracks and are also a high rent way of getting a phantom to hold still for a head shot.  A well timed sticky will also interrupt an Atlas before it fires it's rocket.

Next time I reset my QFI, I'll probably go for a build with 4 ranks in stickies instead of 3.  That will also probably be a good time to drop bonus power and swtich out duration for damage.  The sabotage/melee will be a little harder to pull off, but the higher damage potential will make her more effective vs. bosses.

The Crusader, I've found, works well with the QFI.  Yes, you have to learn to handle its recoil, but really, it's not that bad (and I used to hate a lot on this weapon).  Furthermore, the stun caused by Sabotage on most units gives you a second to line up your headshot if needed.  If you have rank V or higher of this weapon, give it a try.  That said, the Crusader does have "moods."  Some matches, I perforate everything and anything with blissful efficiency.  Other matches, it just doesn't seem to connect and I -know- it was a good hit visually (pointblank body shot, what?).  I almost always host so I don't think it's lag-related.

Sticky Grenades, on the other hand, do get me into trouble sometimes.  It's definitely unwise to rely on them to get you out of a sticky (hah!) situation since they might not go off.  Good for chucking into a spawn, though.  And big targets.  To be fair, they -have- saved me a few times, but it only takes a few duds to sour the experience.

For comparison, I run 5/6/6/6/3 with Grenade Capacity V and a Crusader VII.  Ideally, I'd like to run with Shock Trooper Package V and a Crusader X to see how the build fares maxed out.  Although, at that point, I'd probably drop the 7.5% weapon damage bonus in Quarian Defender and take the weight/power bonus instead for Sabotage/Stickies.  Mind you, I'm not saying this is some uber build/loadout, just one I very much enjoy.  Then again, QFE is one my favorite classes so perhaps I'm not the best reference.

The Crusader in my hands seems to shoot blanks occasionally. Clear headshots do no damage. That's what I mean by hit or miss.

Have you ever tried your Saber V instead? Lower damage but also much lower weight and recoil. I can string 2 or 3 head shots in a row with the Saber occasionally. The Crusader... not so much. Plus you've got Warfighter Pack V, so you'll still get your 2 extra grenades when you switch over.

I have, in fact, although not on my QFI but rather my Demolisher (Sabre and Warfighter Package as you mentioned).  It works well with her.  I've also used the Crusader with her and did well, too.  I like the Sabre, although I don't like its reload time compared to the Crusader's.  Yes, I know about reload cancelling, no I don't do it (intentionally).  This is just a personal thing, though.

I've had the "shooting blanks" happen with the Crusader, yes, although not often enough to make me want to drop it.  Weird as it sounds, aiming slightly off to the right seems to help -- or moving/using a power.

All in all, your suggestion is a good one, but I'd rather not have another Sabre-user if I can help it.  Variety, right?  Or maybe I just like using an uncommon loadout and still doing well (hipster!).

This is the kind of thing that makes me wish I could have two builds for each character. I usually use my FQI on Platinum and no way am I walking around punching things on Platinum.

My not built for melee FQI still ends up punching people a whole lot on bronze/silver, since backfire from sabotage leaves enemies weak enough for that.

You can alway spec one of your human infiltrators for melee.  You won't get the same damage boost from Cryoblast as you get from sabotage, but the human's heavy melee is a bit faster iirc. If you can role with the QFI on Platinum, you'll have fun witha melee HMI on Gold.

The top post has all the relevant info.  She's lots of fun to play.  Especially when your soloing a wave and your spectating teammates think you're nuts when you sneak up on a phantom -- and then you rip her apart with your omniblade.

As long as you've got cloak and fitness specced for melee and have melee mod on your weapon you'll be a powerful destructive force.  It won't take that much away from her weapon capabilities, and cloak gives you plenty of survivability in the absence of the extra health and shields.

The Crusader is a weird weapon. You pull the trigger, and it shoots a moment later.
The thing is, the shot actually goes where you were facing when you pull the trigger, at the time of shooting.
Riddle me that.

How are you getting 130% damage from Tactical Cloak if you spec for Duration? It should only be 40% for the initial damage bonus and 50% for melee.

I REALLY wish they'd give us two builds per character. I'd love to try this.
