Spirit Healers can summon spirits from the Fade to aid in healing.
But isn't that more along the lines of connecting to a spirit in the fade - like wynne?
Although I guess if the time was short enough and they could get back to the fade it wouldn't be a problem.

And that's good. People talk about and there's stuff in the codex about mages getting possessed, but it's never demonstrated in-game. If there was some sort of possession sequence if a mage PC goes to blood magic if, say, they use it too often that would be great.
you have been playing very different games than i have, i think. both games, i had a possessed healer. BOTH games. each of them had special combat powers over it and everything. so yes, some pretty d@mned good in-game demonstrating going on, i'd say.
i also don't think it's very feasable for people posessed by spirits to ever end up going the blood magic route. even the Anders/Jutice combo, who was bat sh*t crazy, uber-rejected the whole deamon/blood-magic thing.
as for the spirits with charming personalities also known as deamons, yeah, i could see a possession sequence going on there, but i think the initial tone of this forum was more along the lines of benevolant or benign spirits, not malelvolant or parasitic ones. not that it doesn't have me spinning random webs of thought at the idea...

Oh, you mean the other kind of spirit.

If mages could summon brandy, whiskey, vodka and rum at will the party would never get anything done.

Lol. Good one.

Maybe you could call upon a spirit to lend it's power to you, such as increased fire damage or a unique spirit power.

Those in the chantry keep their foot on our necks, brother and sisters! I say no! Join me and Rise UP!
Actually now that it's full blown war with mages... I bet we might pick up some new specs that would have been considered evil before. Like Necromancy specalization tree or a demon summoning spec. Why not? DA2 proved again and again and again that mages when pushed summon things all the damn time. Why not the PC?
I support this thread idea. Why not. I liked using the greater undead spell combo in DA:O just for role-playing reasons. Wasn't ever a huge benefit to a fight but it was fun to have.

As for spirits, they're way too whiney for me. Or at least make certain mages too whiney. Wynne struck a good balance between whining and wisdom. Plus her party banter was great. But other mages, that shall remain nameless, I was glad to stab. Even if it did leave a cat ownerless. Poor cat.
