Then why do the Playstation 3 players get the (awful) Genesis?
BioWare gave people who didn't import their saves a set settings so later new players will later play ME1 and try to make different choices.
Canon does exist

Hey,
So people often say that "there is no Canon".
Well, there is.
The fact that in ME2, If you did not import a ME1 save certain choices were forced upon you (Wrex Dead, Udina on council, Rachni dead, etc).
Thus, those choices were considered canon by bioware.
I think those choices were to encourage you to buy ME1.

The reapers' existence is canon.
The larger events are the same and can be considered 'canon'. Who's there during the events are not.

Canon does exist.
Those who deny it are simply delaying the inevitable.

No, thats the default not canon.
Canon would be what BioWare consider the "truth" of what happend in the games, and would be reflected in the EU (books comics), just like light side male is canon for KotoR. You can role Dark Side FemRevan but the rest of the Star Wars universe (other that KotoR 2) will consider this non canon.
Default is just the choices the game gives you if you didn't make your own choices. Male soldier earth born sole survivor Sheploo is default in exactly the same way. A choice had to made in Mass 1 and Bio had to put in somthing for new players. Infact to me it even feels like they gave new players the finger a bit by saying "you didn't what to play our game the first time so we'll kill off every body you might like to have saved."

Its 'choose your own adventure'. The canon is what you make it (but within the available choices).

I am the only one that thinks canon does not matter?
Mass Effect plays in thousands possible Galaxys.
If my Galaxy caries over to the next installment, now that Shepards story is over,
does not matter to me at all .
