Say NO to synthesis

Soft Sci-Fi allows for seemingly fantastic things to occur that break away from coventional science.
There are of course different shades of hard and soft science fiction, but a lot tends to fall on the soft side. Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5. Mass Effect stays mostly in the middle, but strays towards softer.
Synthesis is definitely an example of a soft science fiction concept.

Changed (by synthesis) into accepting a certain idea that not everybody accepted before. "Changed" sounds better, gotta admit that. Everybody had their minds changed at the same time concerning this issue. Which happens to be the time they got hit by the beam.
This is not brainwashing. This is enlightenment.
No of course not. Don't be silly.

I'm sure he thinks that. Harbinger's new minions work better if they think they're autonomous.
It's coexistence. The Reapers are helping, what is the problem with that?
How is it coexistence? They Reapers only deigned to let us exist when we became like them. Remade in their image.
don't forget the 'vis a vis' on that.. both get zapped.

They are no longer controlled by the catalyst, that is why they coexist with us.

I'd hate to start arguing after we just came to agreement on something after HOW long of snipes and jabs...but you're doing it again.
"Remade in their image" is a stretch. A seemless blend of organic and synthetic isn't "their image" because to my knowledge, Coates still looks like Coates and not a giant squid.

Reapers are already hybrid organic/synthetic beings. They get... shiny circuits and Harbinger presumably gets green eyes.
Yes I'm sure that's a change on the same magnitude as what the organics and synthetics have to go through to suit the Reapers.

Hey nothing wrong with arguing as long as the petty jabs are left out.
Anyway, by remade in their image I mean, they become a form of hybrid life like the Reapers. The method is different, of course. But they're still essentially a combination of organic and synthetic. Reapers are this themselves, as are husks of all varieties.

no, indoctrination is simple communication, like a walkie talky. Synthesis is a sharing of resources, like blood transfusion or transplant operation.

again.. except in Mass Effect nothing has ever happened on the scale of Synthesis until the last 10 minutes of the game, therefore its not possible within that universe
