no, indoctrination is simple communication, like a walkie talky. Synthesis is a sharing of resources, like blood transfusion or transplant operation.

EDI: "All of us, synthetic and organic, have been changed".

Changed (by synthesis) into accepting a certain idea that not everybody accepted before. "Changed" sounds better, gotta admit that. Everybody had their minds changed at the same time concerning this issue. Which happens to be the time they got hit by the beam.

I know this comes as an enormous shock to people, but a great number of people believe that as we approach enlightenment, our propensity for violence will go down.  Attaining ultimate knowledge or enlightment then necessarily implies violent conflict will be eliminated.

This is not brainwashing.  This is enlightenment.

Seems legit.

This is not a new topic in science fiction.

Does that mean that you also defend cyclical genocide as well? Turning children against the protheans? Employing technology to believe the lies of the reapers, called indoctrination? And the other gazillion atrocities? After all, it is science fiction, right?

No of course not.  Don't be silly.

The same goes for violating the right of self-determination, which the reapers applied for the last billion years in the most horrific ways imaginable. Synthesis is just one of those methods, because there is no opt-in and the opt-out is death. The reapers keep on dreaming up solutions like that. The problem is that it cannot be a solution, because the threat is hypothetical. And if you look at it that way, the only threat there is, are the reapers.

Yup genocide is just part of carving out your species place in history. I'm of black ancestory, I've seen the paperwork that showed my forebears being resettled in Bristol. The Brits get accussed of being anti european for thousands of years of invasion and cultural destruction yet we get prissy over a few hundred years of being enslaved and called ****. We had that before, the only difference was the N word. I could pass myself off as jamaican and be cool as eff. It's a set back.

wtf does that have to do with enlightenment vs. brainwashing via space magic?  If you're hung up over the fact that Shep didn't give everyone a vote before pressing the green button, that's cool and all, but that's a whole different topic.  The way I see it, the only button that doesn't remove "Self-determination" is the blue button.  It's the only one that affects no one other than Shepard and the reapers.

Now we're arguing semnatics.  Hard science fiction and soft science fiction are STILL science fiction.

Perhaps but this big monster entity and this green wave of turd is the definition of fantasy.

not unlike the big bang theory,eh..

I don't think that is a good comparison.
A green wave that changes the makeup of the galaxy in an instance and monster the size of a galaxy is just somewhere over in crazy town.

but organics are 'self determined' to become sythetic, as they think it's the best guess to survival and time frame limitation, like life expectancy, in a vast chunk of space to explore and learn from..etc.

Organic won't opt out, as long as it's/or seems benificial/we can use that tool.

self determination is what formed the technology that created the cycle enforced by the very same technology.

so, "what"?

Ghehe. Are you mad now? You seem to forget that this game was never about enlightment. It was about Commander Shepard who, as a Spectre, was chosen to get rid of the reaper threat. And that some translate that into something that has nothing to do with his/her inititial task is fine, but to glorify these evil overlords and to join them doesn't fit the job description.

Your ignoring my point that no electron in the universe can share the same value as any other. It happens instantly. This is cience fact, therefore any ending is possible. Also I've ran out of wine. I may sleep.

Stop lying about what I've done, HYR. You've already earned a block, if you continue I'll report you for harassment.

You might be fooling others by being pendantic, but you're not fooling me. You tell me "I hope you never gain political power" and the next guy says "I hope you don't have power over any individual (... like a pet, or kid)." Those are only different to someone with no sense of empathy.

As for reporting me for "harassment" ... you're just too damn funny. Now you're making a threat just to show who's boss. Oh, and to silence dissent against your insults because you can't handle it, no less. So much for your self-righteous opinions about power, and freedom of conflict/dissent. (That's why I have, and will continue to, laugh at people who try to take the moral high ground against synthesis).

But do try it anyways. Just be warned that I do not act without a plan. ;)

You once stated that you'd force synthesis on everyone with no issues, because "it's for their own good".
Due to that, I said I hoped you'd never gain political power. Because thoughts like that frighten me.

That is nowhere near as personal as telling someone they hope they'll never raise a child and you know it. You continually do this, attempt to misrepresent other's posts. Why? Are you that insecure in your arguments? Can you not speak for them by themselves without attempting to belittle others?

HYR Please drop it. Your both arguing about the merits of a game and taking it to a personal level that is uncalled for. I know TAO enough that he'll dust off personal attacks, but your bravado and grandiose posturing may call attention to yourself and really it isn't worth it. Be nice the pair of you. I rarely come here and whilst I see the productive values of conflict no good can come of this.

We've been down that road before, friendy. I never said that, and you don't have evidence that I did either (because, again, I didn't say it). It's only not personal to you because *you're* not on the receiving end. In the end, it doesn't matter if I'm the next Joe Stalin. It's still an insult to anyone with an iota of self-esteem. Or am I supposed to like being ridiculed?

Sorry, it's not a misrepresentation just because you say it is. You're joked about by A LOT by people other than me precisely because of these things you say and for what you clearly are. My arguments are fine on their own, but I'm also willing to use the nuclear bomb as well. The anti-synthesis camp has really earned it, IMO.

Like I said, I'm the hero that synthites need!
