The reason some are adverse to Flemeth being "the bad guy" is that she's too obvious. BWE has the habit of throwing curve-balls.

Then again, the curve-ball this time could be going with the obvious unexpectedly.

I hope they don't pull a new villain out of nowhere, though. That's too easy IMHO. I'd like it to be someone that we already know from the extended Dragon Age lore (novels, codex entries in the games, expansions, main plot, etc.).

Better yet, take the villain and make that person be the salvation for Thedas.

We can have one that's trying to correct a mistake that they made when they tried to become the overlord of all nations and have another that's trying to take advantage of that mistake so they can become said overlord but ends up being the key to saving the world if the player can manipulate that villain properly. AND! That villain is a trusted party member that's been pulling the strings all along.

I just tied my brain into a knot. I'll be back once I fix it.

I don't think it's anyone we know, not right now atleast. I do agree that Flemeth is to easy a target and would prefer that it's someone else entirely.

I think the person behind the scenes will be a mage of some sort, like Flemeth in that they are ancient and mysterious, but maybe it's not one person, but dozens of people attempting to shape Thedas a certain way. A secretive group older than the Imperium or even Flemeth and certain members of the conflict including a companion are actually a part of this group.

I actually really like the idea that it's the survivors of Arlathan because the former capital of the Dales (Halamshiral) is right there and could act as a base. We know that Orlais has an overcrowded alienage and I think that the plight between elves and humans will be a subplot in DA 3.

Just my thoughts though lol.

Yes Leliana is the true antagonist of Thedas thats why she never dies. Even Flemeth's magics were put to shame when she said, "Maker said it wasnt my time."

If the villain is not Flemeth or in some way related to Flemeth, I will be shocked. We do know that she has other daughters, for what that's worth.

Can we have a villain that isn't misunderstood? They just turned the damned Reapers into a huge misunderstanding with their latest DLC. Can we please have another villain from Jade Empire? Do you guys remember his spoiler-y awesomeness? He just wanted power and he used children, murder, slavery, and a ****-ton of lies to make the ultimate power grab.

He was fantastic!

There was no misunderstanding him. He didn't have some kicked puppy story in his past that made him who he was. He just wanted power. And he was glorious!

And yes, I know being vague about his name to avoid spoilering a game from like 2002 is weird but it's a good game if any of you haven't played it. Not perfect, the combat's rather dull, but the story was well done.

She won't be a villain. She'll be the surprise good guy. Although, why it's a surprise good guy when she's saved the Warden and Hawke from certain death is beyond me.

Villian might be too strong a word, but she and her daughters do seem to have designs for restoring the Dragons to Thedas...  Besides, she had ulterior motives when she saved Hawke and the Warden.

I just think she's all wrapped up in it somehow.
