I'm amazed at how average the average speed is.  Mine isn't great (check out the Scandinavian's or Koreans) but decent, but I thought gamers would generally be above average speeds.  I did run into one guy who claimed to be playing on a mobile dongle  Which would explain the lag that game...

"isn't great"???
Dude you'd better joking, I'd kill for your internet connection :

i'd kill for HALF his connection

I have ordered a upgrade to 1Gbit, but it takes a while for them to fully upgrade their hardware on their end :?
(I already have everything  set up for 1Gbit at home with new cables, routers etc)

So i will have to live with this while waiting for them to finish their upgrades.

I spoke too soon, but seriously, what is out there that makes you want that kind of connection for personal use? Or are you hosting servers from home?

Wait - nevermind. I'm just going to roll with Microsoft Security Essentials for the present and run the occasional malware scan.

(aka...if it ain't broke don't fix it...)

Same here - we had 35/35 FiOS, but I knocked it down to 15/5 to save $40/mo

So far so good...

thank you for posting this i was thinking of switching to comcast but they wouldnt show me there up speeds

warning about comcast, they have frequent disconnects 1-3 times daily where you have to reset your modem to re-establish a connection. Its annoying, but I think they do it to stop the torrenters.

torrents keep going they pause and restart from where they were disconnects dont effect torrents

Hops.
Being geographically close does not always mean close via network structures.

Best bet is to do a trace route and see which areas world  wide are best, and try to hook up with those players.

Download steady in all tested servers at just under 7 mbps.
Upload steady in all tested servers at just under 0.4 mbps.
Ping ranges from 21 (London) to 148 (Melbourne).

Strangely I get 47 ping at the nearest server to me, averages out at 110 to America.

Protip: Never use Orange home broadband unless you are trying NOT to game.

Mediocre. for 21€/month.

We were promised a 180mb/s dl and 20mb/s upload. the current speed on the test server equals around 100-120mb/s dl 5mb/s ul.

Connection type is cable and we got separate cables for upload and DL.

I did have connection issues like this a few months ago, but I later found out the reason why was because they were upgrading the infrastructure in my neighborhood at that point.  It's been smooth ever since.  My upload would probably higher were I to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem.

My only complaint is that where I live Comcast is the only cable company in the area, meaning the subscription price is higher here than in other regions.  I'm paying $55/month currently.  When I was going to school near Orlando I had Brighthouse, and we were paying the same price for a 50 down/20 up connection IIRC, and two static IP addresses.

Sounds pretty expensive, 250mb is around the same money here;

But i've ordered a upgrade to 1 Gigabit now that is not much morte expensive, it's around $100 a month i think.
