Would you be interested in Mass Effect 4 if synthesis is canon?

Synthesis: for when you absolutely have to force cyberpunk themes onto a perfectly legitimate space opera.

They're going to need to write all the potentially extinct species out of the plot in any Mass Effect continuation anyways. Why not write ME4 as if you picked the geth on Rannoch, then went destroy. Two birds with one stone.

some at BW seem to believe the Catalyst is a god.
they follow the church of inevitable synthesis.

Besides whatever they do in future, let the aliens you know be aliens. Geth were interesting in 2 as was EDI. Now both the groups want to be like organics. WTH was with that. The only proper alien left is Javik, rest are nothing but humans wearing masks.

I think as well it was totally tiring to have the ending be some warped AI's idea that killer robots will try to destroy all life.  For once, it was cool to think that such advanced synthetic intelligence might want to be themselves and co-exist.  Synthesis turns them back into beings that just always want to be exactly like other people and then it turns people into idiots that are just never happy being what they are either.  So now everyone must be somehow the same or they can never get along.  That is so uplifting.  Diversity and interesting individuality must be forcefully changed to something more homogenized in order to be valid and appreciated.

Well, OP, I guess cause everyone else seems to condemn synthesis and rage against their assorted machines.. I have to go with synthesis and see what good becomes of it.

As far as ME4 is concerned, it would be interesting to see just how Bioware would construct such a venture and would buy it. I'm not all that interested in the 'personal valor' many proclaim on the BSN. Most of it is contrived and the 'kickback' is only from their blanks they tend to shootoff, trying to dis the games. But, alas, I don't believe there'll be another Mass Effect. Hopefully more DLCs, after Leviathan to ponder.

No, just no. Synthesis is horrible, I hope Bioware isn't foolish enough to make that their cannon ending.

I'm on board with Conniving_Eagle's idea of making Refuse the canon ending, but letting Shepard survive, and having the Quarians blow up the Reapers, thus saving the cycle from annihilation.

Thus ME4 starts with Shepard, Anderson (must have Keith David), a couple of familiar squadmates (probably Liara and James) and a whole bunch of new faces, and the Quarians emerge in a dominant role on the Council. Tali I think would go on to become one of the new leaders among the Quarians, maybe even Councilor Tali Zorah.

The final 20 minutes of ME3 is never spoken of again. It's the only retcon that makes any sense.

If they retconned everything past the fleets arriving with an ME4 game including Shepard I would be splooging in my pants.

OP, the few wish for the many to just enjoy another different game. One without the problems of the current MEU. Make sense of an impossilble universe, with realities capable of time travel and distant alternate universe...

So, ME4 would have to exist just inside that massive black hole at the center of the universe, the one with unicorns'n stuff..where wishful thinking actually works.. instantly.

apart from not seeing how it would work, it would be a shoddy premise for a new game.

I have a feeling ME4 will do a huge retcon.

There's plenty of money to be made and they'll set out to make it.

Thanks, but no.

Honestly, I don't care what they do with a fourth game as I'll likely play it.

But with Shepard and his crew being the marketable faces of Mass Effect, BioWare will do what they have to to make another successful game.

Hope has nothing to do with it.

Well OP, I think most dissenters would buy the ME4 game, in any event. They really love the game after all. Eventually they'd make admissions and reclaim their honor. It's the human thing to do, for the MEU!!

Well if you start to think about it, it's inevitable that both organics and synthetics will start to get sick of wars, or organics start to make themselves synthetics and vice versa to improve themselves. It's inevitable...so sure, I'll probably accept it.
