Sure you can, you can be any race!
Black, white, asian,etc...but all human.

Totally agree with you both. It was such an unexpected thrill after playthroughs running through Denerim hearing "Dwarven crafts! Fine dwarven crafts!" then playing the dwarf noble and realizing "Andraste's knickers! I know who you are!" it was awesome

Agreed. Realizing the dead dwarf in the Carta base was actually my commoner Dwarf blew my mind. As did playing my Human Noble's origin and seeing Howe betray my family, knowing in advance I would have revenge.

Bioware seems to have some odd fascination with Voiced PC.
