not really...i actually barely take cover and use adrenaline mod with this character. it must be nerfed tho because people sit and hide and dont use the character right. there shouldve never been a nerf to this, or to the pirhana, or typhoon, or smash, . etc etc. rather buffs to garbage guns like the pulse rifle and everything else thats crap. and what about the people that spam grenades over and over and over and over. whats the difference?

Yes, this is true. I've played with 2 Slayers who kept using ES over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
11 waves of non-stop ES. It was easily the most annoying match I've ever played. I for one and happy that it got a cooldown nerf.
You must not play that often if you've only played 2 matches with Slayers spamming Biotic Slash endlessly.

You have no clue about this class.
ES cooldown nerfing cripples a lot of the tools this class had that had nothing to do with spamming. If they wanted to nerf the wallhack spammers, they should have just hit its damage and range directly. Now they've completely crippled all of the cancel-based stuff that made this a fun class.
There's very little reason now for most Shadows to spec ES at all. Ironically, the only people that SHOULD still take ES are those that will build the whole Shadow around doing ES and try to make the spamming still work.

Wow really? It's argueably the best sniper rifle in the game. It's the only sniper rifle I use.
edit: I'm sorry, I misread the balance change. I thought they were re-buffing the Krysae. I guess I need to learn to read.

Even with Grenade Gear V, grenades are a relativelly sparse resource. Unless you are a Demolisher, spamming grenades and restocking via ammo packs isn't going to last you through more than 4 or 5 waves and if you are a Demolisher it's the only thing you've really got.nick91_99 wrote...

The Cooldowns on Smash and Slash are reasonable and Slash still has a good range going for it.
Piranha should never have received a buff in the first place, but the nerf it got was neccesary, likewise the Typhoon was a little on the OP side with all it's hidden multipliers (though people are getting inconsistent results with it, meaning it might be bugged now).
And there's few people who wouldn't want to see things like the GPR get a buff.

these are called bad players. N7 Shadow was my fav until this nerf. i have Shadow Strike spec'd as a main power, and ES as a second power. i ES if i see a group of troopers spawn after i'm cloaked. this kills them all in one swipe. great crowd controller, that's it. or i'll use it to keep a guy from stomping on a friendly. otherwise, i SS everything i see, sans bosses when at full strength. the nerf on the Shadow was uncalled for, imo, and i think it will get a later buff. my guy is already very squishy. i relied on being able to use this as a backup incase i was near death. now, i'll just always be on the floor. great job, BioWare. great job. so many bad nerfs... this may be the end of me playing this game.Air Quotes wrote...

To be fair, almost all Shadows and Slayers I've played with spam ES/BS ALL the game. Nothing else. No shadow strike, no charge or phase disruptor. NOTHING. Only slashes. Especially on smaller maps like Glacier or White.

The problem with SMGs is that there's just no "close second best" to the Hurricane. The next best SMG is the Tempest, but even at level X, it's not a "close second" to the Hurricane. And that's even with the Tempest at X, and the Hurricane at a mere level I.

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps is those who do nothing but spam Biotic/Electric Slashes are the ones "doing it wrong"?
I don't spam Electric Slash on my N7 Shadow. Hell, I only got my ES up to a mere 3 ranks. In a match, you'd be damn lucky if you see me fire it a couple of times. And that's the entire time across all ELEVEN waves of at least Gold. This nerf really sucks because now *I* don't have that option to fire 2 or 3 in succession for crowd control so I can revive a teammate and buy enough staggered enemy time to get the hell out of the immediate area.
Having options taken away, is ALWAYS a bad thing.
As far as this nerf is concerned, toning it down just a tad is one thing. Crippling it is entirely another -- and this is what this nerf exactly is. And for what reason? Simply because of jackasses who were the ones DOING IT WRONG by doing nothing but spamming Smash/BioticSlash/ElectricSlash across 11 waves?
And now all the rest of us have to suffer because of it? "Game Balance" is an exercise in "fairness". That's a given. Now, where the hell is the fairness in that?

As for biotic charge, that's cool. I never use vanguards, but it seems to have gotten a nice improvement.
I hope they implement some kind of linear/story MP DLC because it's getting incredibly boring.

By now I think it's pretty obvious that BW is going to nerf powers that are very powerful and very spammable. The Slash powers fell into that category, and thus were nerfed. They are still good powers by the way.

not really. have been waiting for these changes to really solidify it for me. and TBH, the whole game is spamming! all people do is play firebase white and chuck grenade after grenade, or spam warp and throw, or spam smash a million times. and nerfing slash was absolutely unnecessary. ps i carry with or without it. thanks.

No I'm pretty sure it was done because of the Slayers and Shadows who were leading their teams in points using almost nothing else all match. If Smash got the 5 second to 8 second nerf, I'm really not getting how anyone could expect the Slash powers to not get the same treatment.
