I am coming close to finish my newest Dragon Age character (Human mage,Spirit healer, Arcane warrior, with heavy armor and sword and shield), and was going to start a female elf archer, I was wondering what was better the Dalish elf Origin or the City elf. I have played both(rushed through the dalish
), and prefered city elf. I was wondering whether there was more to the Dalish elf other than the main story, like can you bond with Merill? Get any special dialogue in dalish elf main quest? Just let me know your opinion and which one you liked better.

You don't see Merill again all game. You get special dialogue in the Dalish quest yeah, but none in the Alienage. The City Elf, meanwhile, gets the same "elf, but not Dalish" dialogue an elven mage gets in the Dalish camp, and origin-specific dialogue in the Alienage. Meanwhile, the City Elf origin is possibly the creepiest part of the game, if that influences your decision in either direction.

I felt like archery fit my Dalish Warden better for roleplay than it did my Tabris. Merrill makes quite a few references to a Dalish Warden in DA2, if that is a consideration.

Forgot to mention that the Dalish elf gets the subplot with Tamlen. I can't say more, because this is the No Spoiler section.

I think I'm going to chose dalish elf, gives it a kind of lotr feel. Going to be hard to get rid of my Hardcore loyalist mage, and chantry templar point of view. Although Fen' Harel seems like a fun guy to worship
. Thanks.

City elf, hands down. It's my favourite origin in the whole game. I just love the people, the culture, the community, and the strong sense of togetherness it brings.
(There's nothing wrong with the Dalish, I love them too, but they don't tug at the heartstrings the way the city elves do.)

If you have Witch Hunt, there's a bunch of special dialogue for a Dalish Warden in it. City elf is still my favourite origin though. Play them both?

City elf gets more of a 'reunion' kinda feel when they return to the alienage and have to deal with Soris, Shianni and their father.
Dalish elf...unfortunately you don't get much in the core DA:O compared to other origins. But I'm told Witch Hunt makes up for it. Many people did a Dalish play in DA:O just for Witch Hunt, in fact. And DA2 has a couple of comments if the DA:O you import was Dalish.

The City Elf Origin is superior of the Dalish one. The choices you made also have more lasting consequence in the game afterwards too.
