I liked her in ME2, but I hated how they developed her in ME3.
Just a fanservice to drooling nerds.

Yeah ok, complain about EDI's looks but remember Samara, Miranda, the changes in Ashley's armor and looks, Liara's ******, Jack... At least, EDI is a robot and doesn't need proper armor, but Samara's and Miranda's outfits are ridiculous.

People seem to forget this part. Hell, why would a robot even need clothes? Temperature doesn't bother her, she's not anatomically correct enough to need clothes for modesty, and she doesn't need "support" to keep her boobs from flopping in the breeze or straining her back.

So what? Did anyone ever deny the fact that many other outfits are terrible too?
Thats not part of the topic.

The fact alone that she even gained a body in the first place (and such a whorish one too) plus this ridicoulus Joker/EDI *romance* makes the character stupid for me.

I loved EDI in 2. She had a unique role and was another perspective on AI potential in the universe. She deserved a bigger role in 3, but the way they did it was odd. I wasn't a big fan.

Though, she caught me staring on the bridge once, and she may have been right.

So her appearance defines her character? Obviously she never learned a thing about self-sacrifice, morals, and perspectives of humanity, right? She is obviously just a fanservice whose only role is to be nothing more than Joker's date. Right? Right...

Which you can discourage? Considering how negatively you think of this relationship (and believe me, I don't like it either), I thought you would know about this.

I would like to order her out of Eva's body and back into her holo form. I would order Joker off the ship for a little seperation and R&R. Maybe get Garrus to buy Joker a subsciption to Fornax... or get Kelly to take him to dinner. Beyond that he needs therapy.

Wasn't he calling EDI mom in ME2?

EDI and Joker is silly. EDI trying to become more organic is silly. Just my opinion. You may not agree with me and that's OK.

Which I always do.
Doesn't change that this idea alone ruined the character for me.

And the rest of her dialogues aren't very interesting either.
Typical *robot searches for his sense of existence*.
Bad Legion-clone.

I should have mentioned I do not want to discourage or encourage a relationship between my ship and its pilot? It's a strange and unnecessary stiry arc. Joker and EDI swapping puns, insults and jokes while clearly being affectionate was interesting and funny. Joker and EDI being together isn't necessary. EDI walking around is interesting but not something I need. I want her to be the Normandy .... take care of the crew.... run her calculations and help save the day without witnessing a robomance.

AI's are machines not girlfriends.

Well AI's got shafted in 3. Legion was interesting in 2, because he had a alien viewpoint. Now geth and edi both want to be organics mentally. That is retarded.
Also the sexbot body, seriously if they wanted edi as a squadmate, give her a combat body or something. But its not that me3 is the only game guilty off, they did this in 2 with miranda, samara etc. I refuse to use characters who do not look they combat ready.

EDI/Joker was foreseeable,a lot of people actually believed that there "was something" between them in ME2 despite EDI's lack of body. It's disturbing that a relationship flourishes when she gets a sexy body, but that's just a minor part of the character and it's our decision. At the same time it's understandable, there is something called physical attraction and that's why Kaidan, Ashley, Liara, Jack.... are all good looking characters. The body? sexy like ALL human and asari, in fact, it was made to look human. At least she isn't portrayed as a pole dancer like other races...

Most people like EDI, it's just there are a few bitter saddos who resent her ruining the Destroy ending/replacing a potential Mass Effect 2 squad mate(she didn't by the way)/making them feel insecure about being attracted to robot. It's a fairly standard vocal minority thing, making it look like everyone hate her when the people who like her simply don't care enough to jump in and coutner the bad arguments.

You can recognise this sort of person immediately because they'll nearly always start with the juvenille fanservice insult. Aside from being a low-hanging fruit as far as criticism goes, it's also completely stupid. She is nowhere near as pandering as Miranda, Jack or the entire asari race and her dialogue delves into far deeper matters than "I'm a robot, teach me this human thing you call love".

A sentiment reminiscent of the Quarians...turned out well for them.

Once I got over her new body I found her to be one of my favourite characters. She offers a unique perspective in the ME universe - unlike the geth, she is a true AI (the geth are VI-like programs that achieve AI intelligence in numbers, so an individual geth is not really an AI, with the exception of Legion who kind of is) - and is also imo the funniest character in the game. She's also the most useful squadmate power-wise imo.

I also found James to be surprisingly interesting. I thought he would be a Gears of War style meathead, but I actually thought he was a really good character by the end.

Han Solo talks to his ship in Star Wars. He doesn't appear to need/want a romance with it. He's affectionate toward it. True it doesn't contain a voiced AI or VI, but you definitely knew he loved the M. Falcon.

If George Lucas had somehow transformed the essence of the M. Falcon to a humanoid body and Han took that form out on dates and kissed it... the galaxy would have busted their guts laughing at Solo and SW fans would have ... I don't have words to describe fan reaction to such a thing.

Lol!

I think se was fine - ofc I loved her in ME2, as AI was changing into something more (almost like living creature), joking, learning what to do, evolves some kind of relationship with joker etc. But in ME3 it was ... well I liked how she from almost living thing went to living thing (how she was thinking of her purpose and what she have to do) but it wasnt EDI exactly ... and on top of that joker and EDIs love ... well that was unnecessary.

Again, I like EDI as a character and would rather had her stay just the Normandy myself, but honestly, what is wrong with having something sexy to look at in a video game? I mean, after all, video games are there so we can go to fantasy worlds we can't irl.

I like her character but not the sexbot body

Now, I'd like to suggest this, instead of Eva Corres, Edi takes over the body of Evan Corres, a robot built like a Ken doll (since human male genitals are flesh it'd have been burned off along with the rest of his flesh). Edi still sounds like Edi, only her voice is coming out of a male robot and she is still attracted to Joker.

Note, I'm not suggesting this because I'm female and find the idea of a male version of Edi to be hot, I'm suggesting it for the LOLs factor, I couldn't have cared less that Kaidan was shirtless in the hospital other thinking his pecs looked very flat and non-3D and that they wasted the opportunity to have him in an ugly hospital gown (same with Ashley).
LOLs factor for the whole male looking robot with a female voice being attracted to Joker (possibly letting Seth Green write the dialogue)

@Helios I don't agree. The Quarians didn't want to work with the Geth. The were afraid and thought to gain control of their creations. Failing that they tried to destroy the Geth.

Where in what I wrote says kill EDI?

(... in another thread i did support Javiks way of thinking, but not here.)

EDI is great. She's got the best personality of the squad. Which I find ironic, the robot is the most charismatic. She's one of the few characters I was actually excited to go and talk to after every mission. I saw no problem with the body, but then again I'm with Kenneth, I wish I were a wall.

As for James, I really didn't want to like him, but he's a close 2nd for best personality. He seems like a real person, everyone else just seems like a character. Cept Traynor, she's fun.
