I started to do the same recently with some games. When Playing LA Noire, I always tried to drive correctly.
I think it's a good thing. It makes things more natural and the game more entertaining.
Do you have Roleplaying Syndrome?

I keep looking for people in games to romance.
I blame this entirely on BioWare.
I agree.

In regard to the OP...no, I really don't have/do that. I think it's a novel idea, but I'm inconsistent, and lack willpower and follow-through. Some would even say I lack imagination. In the Role-Playing Olympics, I would get laughed out of the arena.
I do refer to my characters by their name, and treat them as though they're people, but what crazy cat lady doesn't?

I'm not sure if I have RPS; I tend to play myself in games (paragon, etc.). However, with a modicum of effort, I can play an opposing role (renegade, etc.). While the latter amuses me somewhat, it isn't a role I'm comfortable with.

Depends on the game, and how well-developed the character is/their personality and whatnot. If it's a character like the main character in Saint's Row, who you play and create the image of, but don't really 'roleplay', then yes I do. Or back when I played Resident Evil Outbreak.
If it's a character like Nariko from Heavenly Sword, then not really.

I do tend to role-play in games like GTA by driving correctly, eating food occasionally even if I don't need the health, and going to sleep when it gets dark.
I do that. Except the sleeping. Niko's a killa! Killa's sleep during the day, they push product at night.

I'm also guilty of letting the taxi rides play out in GTA IV unless I get stuck. It makes traveling feel more authentic.
