Why is this even a question?

Seriously, can anybody tell me why some people seem to be so utterly mystified by the notion of playing a female character? What makes it such a big issue that people feel the need to ask, time and time again? It simply does not make any sense to me.

Because if someone chooses wrong, I have to try to get them to choose right.

My guess some of them like to project their insecureties onto others. Like the homophobe who secretly fear he/she is gay.

for the rest, dunno...

Nothing against it, I just wonder. Of course if you're a girl, I understand.

Because one of the coolest things about ME is that you can play it in completely different ways, and the difference between maleshep and femshep is more than a skin and a voice, the way the characters interact with Shepard change.

What I don't understand is why someone would prevent himself of experiencing the ME trilogy with a female protagonist, just because he is male. What one thing have to do with another?

I thought my post on pg7 or 8 cleared up why I asked, but I'll ask again;

Is there new or different content between the 2 Shep's? Obviously L1 options change, I imagine. But are there any differences in the actual cut scenes, game play etc? Is it similar to the Ash and Kaiden system?

I'd post a new thread but, this one seems to cover the topic...

Oh, this thread again...

As I said in the last one, mostly VA preference. It started out as a change-up since a majority of action game protagonists are male and I found I preferred Hale to Meer. I have completed most of my playthroughs with femsheps but I do have several maleshep playthroughs in some form of progress.

@ Bolt-Action, no significant changes I know of other than love interests and changes in pronouns...

Exactly. Listen to D240. He's a mod. Anyone who prefers Hale to Meer is a terrorist and will be immediately reported to the Department of Homeland Security. Your move FemShep fans.

Funny, I always thought Jennifer Hale was a woman (read: voice actress).  They did one heck of a make up job... Pronouns again, pet peeve.  We have genders, use them.

Oh, yeah! She's got that 'eastern european shot putter' thing going...

I play both at different times.

The VAs make the Shepards seem like different characters even when they're reading the same lines.

Truth.  I really preferred Hale in ME1, but I like both Meer and Hale in ME 2 and 3.  I'm working on a playthrough with a gay femshep.  Take that republicans.  The savior of all organic life is a gay woman.

Oh no! A gamer is creating a fictional lesbian! You'll be hearing from the FBI momentarily.

I didn't play as femshep until ME2, why? Well:

1) The voice acting.

2) Being able to romance Thane. Even if I wasn't gay, I'd probably still go there. Being Femshep is the only way I could.

I just feel I couldn't feel for Shepard if he was of different sex. Dunno.

Because I prefer Jennifer Hale's voice acting to that of Mark Meer.
And because for some unkown reason I like the FemShep/Garrus pairing the most.

I'm a girl, hence I relate more to the female Shep. I do feel her voice acting is better, but it was never really about that for me.

Because I find strong confident women appealing while having a deep hatred the macho male action heroes. On a scale of one to ten anything that features an intelligence capable woman automatically gets a +2 to its rating from me. Anything lacking such a female gets a -2. A male knight in sour armor is fine though. You don't see many manipulative heroes though.

Why can't the puppet master ever be a good guy?

I play femshep because I have the ability to play an RPG as a woman and not feel my masculinity threatened in the slightest way, and I enjoy watching a female rear end jogging around the hallways. Also, see: Jennifer Hale
